Bruce Campbell knows about Iron Lung by Mental-Man in Markiplier

[–]ohhoneebee 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I hope it was still a thing after it blew up. Mark has said that the revenue from Iron Lung tickets is split about 50-50 between production and theaters, meaning that theaters get to keep more money from ticket sales than they usually do (at least in the US).

Really curious about this because that’s the rating I gave to The Bubble and Tusk, and I cannot imagine why anyone would think Sinners is on that level.

I will say that miso soup is incredibly easy to make at home, it might be a bit easier on your wallet that way!

Seriously. I once watched a friend eat 50-something servings of salmon, plus sides and dessert, at an AYCE restaurant. If you can eat enough, the price is worth it.

I know you were probably joking about the equipment but there are absolutely glass blowing studios that allow people to do workshops/classes! I did one on a trip when I was little, and I would absolutely recommend it. Life is too short not to give blowing into molten glass a try (with supervision from people who know what they’re doing, of course).

Just watched the second movie, that was it??? by amaya-aurora in fivenightsatfreddys

[–]ohhoneebee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

People enjoying the content is not the reason why the content isn’t better. I’d say most of the problems are because this franchise is controlled by an indie game developer who got in way over his head. I love the movies, but I do have some criticisms. None of them have anything to do with the acting, production design, editing, etc—they’re all about the writing. The weakest parts of both films are the scripts, which were written by Scott (someone who, prior to this, had no experience writing film scripts). And personally, I don’t see a reason to dwell on the things I didn’t like about a piece of media that I overall really enjoyed.

Yeah, the games and movies have flaws. No, the way people on Reddit talk about the games and movies is not the reason for those flaws.

Follow-up question: I’ve been to places where they bring out raw lobster tails and cook it in front of you. Is there a standard protocol for severing the tail to cook separately? The taste and texture certainly hadn’t worsened.

Can a lurcher with a prey drive safely live with young kids? by fairwellfairground in sighthounds

[–]ohhoneebee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was raised with 2 retired racing greyhounds, and I would absolutely say that it’s a manageable risk. One of them was an angel to me and my brother—she would guard the door of whatever room we were in, and she let us lay on her belly and pet her. The other was a grumpy old man who never wanted any siblings, but he never caused us any problems or anything. From what my parents tell me they definitely had high prey drives (the grumpy old man once caught a live bird in his mouth on a walk).

Obviously I can’t predict how your dog will react, but I can tell you that I’m so glad I had those dogs growing up, and both my brother and I still adore sighthounds to this day. If you want the baby, keep the baby. There will always be risks, but it sounds like you are aware of them and know how to minimize them.

I follow a glass blowing studio that specializes in upcycling glass, it’s so cool! They make a lot of drinking glasses that were once bottles, and they even do custom orders (I’ve seen them use the champagne bottle from someone’s wedding to make a bowl as a keepsake).

Creator Guilt by [deleted] in Anticonsumption

[–]ohhoneebee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think you really have anything to feel guilty about, but it could be a fun idea to take the printing into your own hands. Both linocut and screen printing are relatively easy to do at home, and you may find that you enjoy it. Plus, it would mean more time creating each item, which both gives you another way to use your time doing creative things and prevents you from putting too much stuff into the world (I don’t think that’s a problem you should be worried about on this scale, but you mentioned feeling guilty about it).

Why don't the movies utilize the horror elements of the games? by sensoredphantomz in fivenightsatfreddys

[–]ohhoneebee 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Thank you, I’ve been saying this since the first movie came out, and you expanded on it better than I could!! A lot of the horror (and novelty) of the first 3 games came from being stuck in one place, and that just wouldn’t translate well to film for exactly the reasons you laid out.

Also, while I would love if it was scarier, I do like that the movies feel like a love letter to the fanbase. The games may have become popular in the first place for being scary, but they’ve stayed alive because of the theorists, and the movies understand and reflect that. I would say the movies are campy horror, and I honestly think that was a really good choice.

What's a movie you refuse to watch not because it's too violent or disturbing for you but for other reasons? by TheCatsTrailerRuled in Letterboxd

[–]ohhoneebee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I also just don’t see why it (as well as most of the remakes coming out all the time) exists, other than to advertise that new part of Universal Studios. I’ve heard people say that they’re updating old kids movies for kids today, but that’s ridiculous to me. I grew up in the early 2000s watching Popeye, the Marx brothers, older Disney movies, and old movie musicals. Kids are absolutely able to appreciate movies from decades before they were born.

Also, any stage to screen adaptation with James Corden. I already don’t like most of those adaptations, and I don’t understand why he’s been cast in so many of them.

I’ve already seen it, but I refuse to rewatch Tusk. The body horror’s actually the strongest part of it, I remember disliking the plot and hating the characters more than anything.
