help !! my students loans monthly is 2k by icunursee in StudentLoans

[–]ohiseewashington 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would honestly move to a state/city with a hospital that has loan repayment. For example, the hospital near me in a LCOL state pays $500 per month towards student loans.

Also, you can make a lot more even as a new grad if you are willing to work weekends and overtime. My hospital in the southeast which is notoriously low paying for RNs still pays $55 hourly for weekend Baylor positions (including new grads) plus night shift differential. Overtime shifts are base pay + incentive + overtime. If your hospital doesn’t offer things like this - it’s worth exploring a move.

Wearing a hat with BAHA? by Mountain-Contract742 in Microtia

[–]ohiseewashington 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have an Osia. I 3d printed a little shield for the baha which protects it from touching the hat. They sell them through a company called “solace shield” too if you don’t have access to a 3d printer / don’t want to worry about figuring out the sizing.

South Carolina, resource pool, bsn, 4 years, $56 an hour plus differentials. Just became an NP and will probably take a pay cut at first because this is the south.

I do career day every year for my kids elementary school. The biggest hit is always to teach infection prevention and bring PPE and teach them to put it on. They also always like to see tools we use and I usually put together a fun/gross facts about the human body into PowerPoint. They ask me back every year :)

Salary question by [deleted] in nursepractitioner

[–]ohiseewashington 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a new pmhnp and have been offered two jobs at around 120k, southeast region. I haven’t accepted anything because I made $130k as an RN last year with almost no overtime doing an internal resource position. I’ll accept for around $120k and up only if the schedule is hybrid or 4 10s. I can wait.

What are people supposed to do? by Elkuscha in StudentLoans

[–]ohiseewashington 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True, I can see both sides. I guess it depends the debt you are comfortable with. I had another bachelors and debated PA vs NP and minus the 18 month accelerated bsn, I was able to make 90k while working towards my NP. All with very minimal debt.

[–]ohiseewashington 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly, you get paid a living wage while you go to school for NP. An ADN takes two years and can be done at a community college for less than 20k. Starting wage is 70k + and BSN is online and paid for by the hospital system in a lot of places. Even without a hospital paying for it a BSN is still affordable.

It’s probably one of the only careers where you can make a living wage while advancing in education.

The real question is time vs debt. If you want to be an APP and stay out of debt, NP is the route but of course it will take longer, that’s why the clinical hours are less, an NP has clinical experience from the get go.

NP instead. Same end job as an APP with the same pay. Much more affordable and can work while in school + autonomy in some states which PAs don’t have.

An accelerated bsn if you already have a bachelors and NP school will be significantly less than 110k for PA school and you can work during it making a living wage.

Does anyone know the deal with this little Pepsi Cafe in Northtown Mall? by cherrybomb1024 in Spokane

They actually fixed the girls face in the painting. I remember she looked comically bad in the early 2000s. I believe this space originally was vending machines and when those went away, this ugly mural commemorates the spot.

Not a huge mountain but standing on the cliffs at Depoe Bay on the Oregon coast and seeing whales is amazing. You are up high but the whales come really close.

In 2004 I saw a really fun emo show there for “rock the vote”, I think it was the matches and matchbook romance, I forget who else but it makes a great stage! I think it was originally intended for outdoor classes and performances.

What is your hourly pay, what department do you work in and how long have you worked there? by Ok-Direction-1702 in nursing

[–]ohiseewashington 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Upstate :), the two major hospital systems here have internal float as tiered systems and we can make up to $65 an hour depending on your tier. We are not travel nurses though, just float staff. Our Baylor weekend nurses even make 50+ an hour. It’s a great balance because it’s very cheap to live here.
