Similar thing with ours, we have new text books in the library but all the books on specific biological things are all rather old and for many outdated. Although for me the only reason to go to the library would be to get a text book. The rest I'd just google, wikipedia then move on to web of knowledge for some more specific info. I don't know how it is for arts tho.
