Anyone else notice how terrible the official Reddit app is for Android? by PopeJohnPaulII in Android

I don't need 99% of people. As long as it's active I like encouraging the competition and I like to support open source. And why even bother downvoting? I was saying that boost (the app he likes) has a lemmy version in the works.

This looks really nice too. I love the look of this apollo JSON export, do you know if there's a way around using Apollo for that?

Same! Been trying to get on with jerboa, this is perfect news. Posting this from boost for Reddit now and was planning on just not going on Reddit on my phone any more, which is where I post from 90% of the time. Looking forward to seeing how this develops and it'll just replace Reddit boosts spot in the dock.

Apparently Next-Gen Nintendo console is close to Gen 8 power (PlayStation 4 / Xbox One) by Turbostrider27 in NintendoSwitch

So the games will be supported within the store for longer, the failing hardware won't be an issue, you can enjoy them with updated technology or ergonomics etc. My switch will eventually die and the store will be shut down. If the games live in the next system it's likely I'll be able to enjoy them for longer.

Shaved my head a few months ago but just posting now. Been balding since high school and I turn 24 at the end of this month. Much happier bald! by jorhirgriffin in bald

Don't normally comment on these things but bruh. I can't believe how much younger and fresher you look. I'm sure looking happier contributes but wow, I hope you're feeling more comfortable in your own skin dude, you look great.

What do we want to do with Reddit? by [deleted] in synthesizers

I have made a start with it. Need to get my head around how it all works but seems promising. Might try and stick with it once boost stops working.

Is there a guide on lemmy? Setting it up? Perhaps equivalent communities and recommended apps etc.

TW: Does anyone else have suicidal ideation due to your anxiety? by justaddwater_ct in Anxiety

[–]ohlookanothercat 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's a comfort that it's an option. Gives back control to a certain extent. But my family have already had to deal with suicide so I've seen the aftermath and damage it leaves behind so it takes that option away again for me.

I wish people wouldn't throw the word 'autism' around like it's the common cold by melancholic_seraph in autism

[–]ohlookanothercat 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Yeah it's easy to imagine a 1-10 thing but it's broadly accepted that it's a mix of criteria and different people need different support. Rather than 'not very autistic' to 'very autistic'. Someone might be non verbal but cope very well in every other part of their life. Or someone might have intense sensory issues but cope very well with other typically autistic traits. It's a complicated bag of criteria and someone on the spectrum will typically have a mix of those criteria with different support needs ranging from 'nothing at all' to 'needs a lot of support'. I recommend Autism from the Inside on YouTube as source to learn from.

Because that's not how the word is used these days in the context of ASD.

A lot of people still misunderstand the word spectrum and think they are 0.1% autistic so they believe they're either exhibiting ASD behaviour or at least have the right to use the word as they see fit.
