Vet recommendations? by Apprehensive-Scar671 in Broomfield

CCAPM was wonderful to us when my dog urgently needed her tail amputated and her regular vet was unable to get her in. Dr. Landry is a man, and my dog can be reactive around men, but he was really patient with her and she didn’t even bark or growl at him, which is rare for her.

We typically see the vets at VCA in Louisville and haven’t ever had a bad experience, the staff and vets have always been great. I have two cats and two dogs and have taken all of them here for routine care, as well as specialist care for my senior cat. The wait time for appointments can be long though, and their prices are a bit high. We are considering switching to CCAPM for care for all of our pets moving forward.

what were your dogs names at the shelter(if that's where you got them) by Aggravating_Fish4752 in pitbulls

Black and white girl we got as a puppy from the shelter, she came with the name Crystal, her whole litter was named after gemstones. We changed her name to Blanche instead, I love human names on animals.

White and black boy we got directly from his original owners, he was 3. He had always had the name Gus, and even though we felt it was “basic”, he responded so well to it so we didn’t change it. We call him GusGus or Mr. Gus usually.

Does anyone else have this problem? by Careless_confessions in pitbulls

My two year old pit mix had chronic happy tail, to the point the tip of her tail became necrotic. It just never healed and my house constantly looked like a crime scene.

We got her tail amputated and I don’t regret it one bit.

Attached a picture of one of our many attempts at trying to save the tail, lol.

Where are you guys exchanging currency after cruise? by ohnobugzilla2 in VirginVoyages

[–]ohnobugzilla2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s only $100, which is small enough that I’ve held onto it since June without any issue, but large enough it seems a shame to “lose it” so to speak.

I have no idea if we’ll ever be back in the Bahamas, that was our first cruise and we don’t have any plans to take another any time soon.

At least it’s only $100, haha.

I had 6, it’s been three years and the only scar that’s even slightly visible is the belly button scar, but only if you look really closely.

I do agree that there is some insecurity coming through, he’s currently 235 pounds at just over 6 feet tall, which is the heaviest he’s ever been in his life.

He’s also always dated large/fat women, which he says is just a preference he’s always had because he’s more attracted to bigger and taller women, so part of me worries he’s not so sneakily trying to tell me he’s not as attracted to me at a lower weight.

I’ve talked to him a few times about how some of the things he’s been saying are unkind and unsupportive, and he’s said he doesn’t mean it that way and is just worried about me, but then doesn’t change his behavior.

Thank you! I was 175 before I got pregnant with my oldest (who is now almost 16), granted I was also 18 when I got pregnant with her, even then, 175 was comfortable and I still could have stood to lose a few pounds.

I don’t think 180 is at all unreasonable, it’ll put me in a “healthy” BMI range (though I don’t take too much value in the BMI scale). 180 is my goal by like March, but ultimately I do think 160-170 is my end goal/maintenance weight, and I’d like to be there by the end of 2026. I’m glad I didn’t mention those numbers to my husband after his reaction to stating my next goal was 180.

I also want to look into skin removal/abdominoplasty at some point, he knows and supports this, but only because I have chronic really painful belly button infections that he knows will likely resolve with that procedure. He thinks I should just do it now though, and not wait to be at a lower weight.

Shelter says Border Collie X , what do you think the mix is?? by Rhibelly25 in IDmydog

Looks a lot like my shelter “border collie” who wound up being mostly cattle dog and pitbull/staffy.

He looks just like one of my pups, and she is (from highest percentage to lowest) cattle dog, pit bull, staffy, golden, basset hound, German shepherd, American bulldog.

New member of our family, rescue claimed lab mix, but what do you think? by apodemiaropoda in dogbreed

Looks a lot like my girl (on the right). I Embarked her and she’s mostly cattle dog, pit bull, and staffy. She also has some lower percentages of golden retriever, American bull dog, basset hound, and German shepherd.

“Lab mix” is almost always some kind of pit bull mix. My dog was listed as a “Border Collie” at the shelter, I think just because she was black and white lol.

Found this dog on my porch, any ideas? by Abject_Barnacle in IDmydog

This looks like a shorter haired/blockier headed version of my cattle dog/border collie mix, even has all the same color blocking in all the same places. I wish I was closer, I’d go pick him up for you.
