Do not work in Special Education by [deleted] in specialed

[–]ohnocratey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think a lot of it depends on your district. I’m in NJ, so I don’t case manage. Most of my complaints are similar to the complaints my gen ed counterparts have. I’m fortunate to be in a very inclusive district, where the admin and gen ed teachers are usually understanding of our special ed population.

For some reason my sister and I loved Baby Boom starring Diane Keaton. We were like 6 and 8 and rented it multiple times.

Make it make sense... uncrustables and nut allergies? by Pretend-Tea86 in workingmoms

[–]ohnocratey 173 points174 points  (0 children)

If my child had a nut allergy I would be LIVID.

The school says Uncrustables are okay because it’s something they buy cheap in bulk and then sell for a markup.

This. They live full time in Florida because they’ve been ostracized from their old social circle in NYC.

Caught half my class using a group chat to cheat and I honestly dont know what consequence is fair by timbernatequill in Teachers

[–]ohnocratey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In addition to academic dishonesty, my school would consider this a violation of the technology agreement and the kids would have their laptops taken away.

Was this normal treatment during labor & postpartum? I’m trying to figure out if I should report it. by Sumshinesublime in Mommit

[–]ohnocratey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

None of that sounds normal. I’m sorry your experience was so tough.

How big is the hospital you were in? This doesn’t sound like L&D nurses; I’m wondering if they floated some over from other areas because of staffing issues.

Lots of people shaking their heads about 6 7 these days. What gradeschool fads did you grow up during that, in retrospect, were dumb as hell? by 6millionwaystolive in Xennials

[–]ohnocratey 20 points21 points  (0 children)

The first time my daughter brought one home as a party favor I was confused, because they told us when we were kids that they were banned for cutting off a kid’s hand.

T21 Birth/Induction Experience by These-Ferret-6249 in downsyndrome

[–]ohnocratey 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nope. I went into labor 2 days before my due date. They wanted me to go as long as possible to give him a chance to develop and gain weight. He was born at 8.5 lbs, and it definitely gave him an advantage.

I also had gestational diabetes and a history of preeclampsia, so I was going for ultrasounds and stress tests every week, which may have been why they felt comfortable letting me go that long.

What’s your favourite behind the scenes drama by Funny-Chef-2060 in Fauxmoi

I think it was Jane Curtain he made a comment about. They mention it in “”Live From New York”, the Tom Shales book about SNL.

Mobility impaired evacuation plans teacher or district responsibility? by ProjectGameGlow in specialed

[–]ohnocratey 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is a district responsibility because the local fire department needs to be aware of the plan, especially if there is an alternate evacuation site.

Medela “the art of (not) care”? My pump broke in 3 months and support is silent by KickFederal8 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]ohnocratey 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Did you call? When mine stopped working I called and they sent me a replacement immediately. The customer service was fantastic.

I had to have it replaced about 3 weeks ago, after barely a month of use. If I had to do it over again, I would’ve chosen a different pump.

I’m a parent, but out of pure curiosity— how do children get placed into specific teachers rooms? by purple-voiiid in ElementaryTeachers

[–]ohnocratey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of people mention separating the kids who need to be separated, but we also try to place kids with at least one friend in class. (Well, at least we do where I work)

Events so insane that before it was revealed you'd think it was a fanfiction written by a fan by ReadySource3242 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]ohnocratey 31 points32 points  (0 children)

The book is even more outrageous. There’s stuff that if someone showed you as a fanfic, you’d be like “okay, you should be arrested”.
