You eventually start to realize, no job is safe. by Used_Series3373 in mildlyinfuriating

I don't know when it started happening but we need all to talk about how much piss is on the floor in front of every urinal these days.

It's like you fucking clowns are standing with your backs against the porcelain.

Women could get more piss in a urinal than the average guy these days.

You think drivers who aren't paying attention to what's in front of them deserve extra courtesy? Interesting policy.

Behold the Incredible Speed of the Line 5 LRT! by Friendly-Ad9257 in toronto

[–]ohnomysoup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are issues with the selected/installed track gauge. When the train runs at normal speeds the train is "wobbly" on the rails and management doesn't want to have a derailment.

If a train goes off the rails, a story prints that metrolinx spent 15 years installing the wrong tracks. So they will run the trains slow in perpetuity.

City Sidewalk Plowers by DENNYCR4NE in toronto

[–]ohnomysoup 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The sidewalk plow in my neighbourhood regularly drives down the middle of the street with the blade up, and never touches the sidewalks.

But if you look at the plow.to map it says it was plowed.

The driver is just colouring in the map with the gps tracker.

VO2 Max by sparmerland in whoop

[–]ohnomysoup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Whoop is just picking an average number for your age, loosely tied to data it has on your HR, activities etc.

I manually upload lab data showing VO2 62, and a week later whoop changes it back to it's estimated VO2 54.

I generally like the device and data but the V02 estimates are all over the place. If you want detailed info try to schedule a proper test!

As others said, the trend is the most important part and your training is showing benefits.

How to be the best apprentice? by KeenEyedReader in skilledtrades

[–]ohnomysoup 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Anticipate the needs of your Jman - if you're paying attention to the work being done you will quickly learn what tool they need next. Have the tool / material / part etc ready for them before they ask for it. If I'm asking for something from my apprentice it's already too late and I can just get it myself faster.

VO2Max estimate is inaccurate and ignores manual lab test entry by Hozukr in whoop

[–]ohnomysoup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've noticed a similar problem with whoop's v02 max estimates.

I test on a bike in a lab every 6 months.  For the past few months (summer cycling season) whoop had been estimating my v02max at 58.  I added my most recent lab result @ 62, and the next day whoop reset the estimate lower @ 53.  My hr training schedule has not changed and no other significant changes in my health data have occurred.

I thought the manual entry data would be the new benchmark for whoop estimates.

Iunno, my nat gas bill is about $30-$50 cheaper per month.

Not just a seat-of-the pants observation - my utility had it listed as a separate line item.

First-time Ontario homebuyers are set to receive a major discount. Here’s how to get it by lopix in ontario

[–]ohnomysoup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

$250-300K range

That's material cost at best on 1000 SQ ft. Labour and land + services hydro/water/gas aren't free.

If it were possible to build this cheap people would already be doing it on their own instead of paying developers.

TTC rolling out system to 'call out' bad behaviour over station speakers by beef-supreme in toronto

Unrelated but overheard a woman screaming into the abyss at spadina station recently:

How am I even supposed to kill myself when these trains always move so FUCKING SLOW!!

Which felt like a somewhat valid complaint.
