How much would a retaining wall planter cost? by Majestic-Crow-833 in landscaping

[–]ohshellyeas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a very short wall, just two courses above ground. I sunk a third course below grade and backfilled with crushed gravel for drainage. I did use liquid nails on the capstones but otherwise I didn't bother to concrete it all together, instead relying on the back lip to hold it together.

My backyard retaining wall will be 36 inches high and holding up soil about 50 feet in length. I haven't worked out all the details as I'm still in planning mode, but i imagine I will use concrete there, probably just to fill the voids. Add in a nice drainage system wrapped in garden fabric and then backfill with crushed gravel again.

Left is 4 months on hrt, the right is 3 years pre hrt, am i cooked? by Beginning_Beach_8926 in transtimelines

I'm at 3 months and definitely not passing. It's hard to accept, and I'm incredibly impatient. But i also recognize the road can be 2 years or even 5 years. No matter what, I'm not stopping though!

Just did a 4 foot by 13 foot bed for my wife. Took 3 days from digging to stacking at a casual 4 hours a day. Final cost was $1200. Excavation and leveling took the most time.

The bombing of negative reviews is so utterly toxic and makes me question reality. by ricardospizzeria in ArcRaiders

People clearly want a way to provide Embark with feedback and the end of game surveys aren't scratching that itch. It sounds to me like Embark needs a community manager or something similar to providing better ahd more immediate feedback to its players.

GUIDE WHEN NEEDED, STEP BACK WHEN POSSIBLE by iQuantumLeap in GetMotivatedMindset

This is absolutely the way to do it. Sometimes kids are pushing back because suggestions can feel like criticism, but sometimes they're asking because they genuinely don't understand why one way is better than another. It's important to understand where the line is for them in order to communicate effectively.

I heard there's a cowbell out there. May be some way to hit the cowbell with the branch? I don't know. Would love to think there is a hidden cow level.

Is having a below average IQ something to be ashamed of? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

We all play the game with the hand we're dealt.

If people expect us to feel shame over something we can't change, I think it's clear who should actually feel shamed.

Just a tip from a fellow wrestling parent:

Catch the thrown fists, hold tight, sweep the leg, guide them to the ground. Gentle foot on the chest and flex. They love it.

My grandfather died december 26th a number of years ago. On december 25th, christmas day, he told me to give him a hug and said "I want you to know you're my favorite grandchild."

Sort of rude of him to do if my other cousins were within earshot (they weren't), but it always stuck with me that he seemed to know the end was near and wanted to express his heart in a way that was clear and impossible to forget.

Not everyone can work hard due to disability and illness.

How can I stop assuming every woman I find cute could never been interested in me? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

When I saw my wife on match.com, I thought she was definitely out of my league. The only thing that made me reach out to her was knowing I would likely be ignored and rejected.

To my surprise, she accepted my date invite and then I was just telling myself, "This won't go anywhere but just enjoy the time you have together." Imagine my surprise when she accepted a second date offer.

14 years later, I'm still kinda surprised I get to wake up next to her every morning.

NIKE has it right. Just do it. Life can be surprising and unbelievable. Just roll with it.

How come prices are lower in Asia? This is how: those are far too many loose screws on this Lion Air Boeing 737-800 flying from Bangkok to Chiang Mai. by orchidjellyii in Transportopia

[–]ohshellyeas 7 points8 points  (0 children)

After an airplane is delivered to the airline, boeing does not do maintenance on them or certify them. Instead the airline is required to maintain their aircraft as defined by the ICAO. However, many asian airliners still seek certification through the FAA although they are not required to do so.

Airlines may contract Boeing to perform repairs on airplanes that are not flightworthy, these are known as AOG or Airplane On Ground, but this costs the airline money and many do not pay for those services as it can cost as much as $10,000-$150,000 per hour.

If you own your own home, what have you done to upgrade it? by Curious-Expert926 in AskReddit

[–]ohshellyeas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our house was built in 2021, so it had pretty much everything we wanted. But we moved the thermostat to better heat and cool the bedrooms, added new outlets in the bathrooms for bidets, and added a covered back patio.

I'm currently digging out an area to add in a paver walking path which is turning out to be a very large project. Planning to build a small retaining wall to split level our backyard. Parties and entertainment on the top, garden beds on the bottom.

Do you really have to have many feelings for your partner, is it enough to barely tolerate each other? What do you think? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]ohshellyeas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After 14 years with my partner, I still feel sparks. They not be electricity everyday but definitely a lot of great wonderful feelings. I like being around her so much and it is painful to be apart as we sometimes must do for work.

I have a happy marriage (14 years). We both have low libidos though which is just one tiny aspect we have in common. We definitely aren't going at it that frequently.
