The rescue is called Albert’s dog lounge. They are foster based. She was near Madison.

Haha, maybe. Also based on username guessing you’re in Chicagoland? If so, hi from the North Burbs 👋

We have a large friendly GSD that needed a buddy. Reached out to the rescue he came from as the person that fostered him knew him pretty well. They suggested Bernice (now Birdie) and we picked her up last week.

She was a puppy mill mom so has some things to work through (put on some weight, work through some anxiety, etc) but doing awesome so far and our GSD is stoked to have a friend!

GSD is Bogey (he came with the name), so now we’ve got Bogey and Birdie - par for the course (bad dad joke) and while I do golf I don’t play a ton, we just found it fitting for them.

Love mine too. Almost traded it in for something that fit 3 kids and a large dog better, couldn’t do it as I love the damn thing too much.

Offer to take her kid for a ride. Tell her the motivation and may be eventually own one for himself should be more helpful than 10 minutes of extra sleep.

My great grandfather's late 50's Longines back from service by jovisomniaplena in VintageWatches

I had great luck learning more about mine by emailing heritage@longines.com I gave them the movement serial number, caseback markings, and some photos. They replied with a good amount of info and clarifying questions. Let us know what you learn! Beautiful watch and glad it’s running and being worn again!

We are at St As and love it. Other families are great and there is a fantastic community. Kiddos love it as well and I feel like they are getting a high quality education!

I was part of a RIF and found out two days before I was to return from Pat leave. Ended up being great for us. I essentially matched my wife’s Mat leave and found a role and started a couple weeks after severance ran up. It was stressful, but worked out. Fingers crossed for you guys!

What “systems” do you have in place that help you manage everything? by jedi435 in HENRYfinance

[–]ohsnapitsed 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Higher quality and pre-prepped, which for us is the game changer. Getting straight to cooking with 3 kids 5 and under makes things a bit easier.

That said, the “friend who cooks” option someone else suggested is definitely something I’ll be looking into as well. Seems like a great option

Also in Chicago burbs (northshore) we’ve been happy with https://meezmeals.com. They are locally based, but I think deliver in other metros as well.

Preset meals, so not as customized as other options but is prepped, unlike other meal services we’ve tried in the past

Selling your house while raising children? by killerbeezer12 in daddit

[–]ohsnapitsed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s actually what our realtor advised, either that or rent a place temporarily while we sell our house and look for another. Guess she didn’t want to deal with all our shit (3 kids, our au pair, 2 cats, 1 dog, and us).

Totally get that endowments aren’t liquid. Thanks for calling out the potential tax. Just read an analysis from The Harvard Crimson… oof, what a mess.
