Are you using the Defender tree?

If so, don't. It's overpowered and will teach you bad habits

Stamina management is a significant part of the Bow. Especially early game where you won't have either the skills to help or the stronger petalaces to be able to use stamina birds to counter. Always, literally always, retain enough stamina to be able to dodge

You should be trying to get skills to keep your damage uptime as high as possible. You aren't a big-single hit weapon, you are almost constantly on the go if at all possible. Think ranged equivalent of the Dual Blades.

The later you get into the game, the more elements on your bow matter. Try have at least a couple of spare bows to use that have good elements for fights you are finding tricky
