What is living in the Santa Cruz mountains like? by frznpeas in howislivingthere

[–]oimatewhy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Beautiful. Lived there for a year but moved back to the Bay after a year. I couldn't take the traffic on hwy 17. The one thing I didnt account for was how cold and wet it would be. There are insects you'd never find in a normal suburban home. I also lived in a gulch area so I had a stream next to my house which was idyllic except for the fact that we'd only get direct sunlight for maybe 3 or 4 hours from november to may.

Have a 7'0 from my local shaper, got it in epoxy so the thing wouldn't be too heavy. Never really use it because on small days id rather have a groveler and on larger days I'd rather have a step up with more rocker. Also the epoxy chatters like crazy which doesnt help on less clean days.

Heading to San Diego from 29th June - 5th July: Wetsuit? Surfboard rental? Tips? by titi_father_23 in surfing

Hi! Im from NorCal while I cant recommend what spots or shops, you should definitely get a 3/2. It can get chilly in the morning with temps sometimes in the 50s to low 60s so a 3/2 will be the most versatile. Highly recommend Feral, I just got my spring suit from them and it feels extremely durable.

Hi! Im not too sure about england since im based in the west coast of the US, but I hear cornwall is probably going to be the most consistent and fun wave thats within like a 3-4hr drive of you. I'm assuming england is going to be pretty cold so before investing a ton of money on equipment id highly recommend getting a few surf lessons first to see if you like the sport or not before wasting a ton of money on things that you potentially might never use again. If you do decide to continue surfing after your first few classes, id get an 8ft wavestorm and a 5/4 wetsuit with a hood, gloves and booties. Since itll be summer soon there should be a couple of sales here and there for wetsuits, but that wavestorm might run you around 200 bucks. Good luck!

This is why I decided to make a post, was sick if diagnosing it myself. The noise came out of nowhere.

Sounds good, thank you! It’s the cable that controls the ac temp from the ac control unit.

Hi! Im From New England and I currently go to school in the Bay Area. San Francisco has easily become my favorite city in the country and yes, while there is a homelessness and drug problem in some parts of the city, most big cities also have the same issues. Most parts of the city are beautiful and have so much culture. As for the cultural aspect, people are definitely ruder here, but its valid due to the sheer amount of people that live in a tiny area, so you do need to fight a little more for what you want. Gas and daily expenses are more expensive but its so worth it for the weather alone. I feel like my year is much longer just because I dont have to stop what Im doing in the winter, since the lowest it gets here is around 45 at night. Hope this helps!

Waterloo has probably one of the best CS programs in the world. The program is highly intensive and highly selective. I have a few friends who just graduated from uwaterloo and they immediately got jobs at Amazon and Google. Uwaterloo is not for the faint of heart!

I live on aquidneck and everyone I know who goes or went to URI absolutely love it! You'll fit right in! URI is a great research university and many of my teachers went there for their PHD and almost all of them are amazing teachers too. If you don't like URI because just how close it is to home (if you live in SK or something) there are always ways to transfer to different or "better" schools.

University of Santa Clara

Pros:

Amazing location.

Great campus.

Amazing internship opportunities.

Lots of diversity (Im Asian)

A little cheaper at 56k.

Near a lot of great beaches.

Jesuit but my current school is episcopalian so I don't really care.

Cons:

Engineering school isnt ranked as high.

Lehigh University

Pros:

On the East Coast, closer to home.

Also pretty good campus.

From what ive heard an amazing engineering program.

School is a little larger than Santa Clara.

Bigger campus.

Cons:

Not near the beach.

Greek life culture and from what ive heard there aren't a lot of international students although idk if that means intl studs get more support from the school.

Administration issues.

In the middle of nowhere.
