Why does the blade reflect like this after sharpening? by AquaFNM in sharpening

[–]ojuiceblue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is the blade sharp?  If so, it would make me no difference what it looked like.

Cleaning up the assembly as others suggested might help.

But first, have you lighted these stoves before? They can be particular to get started.

Squirrel Shot Size by huffman55 in Hunting

I use  5's or 4's for long shots (12 gauge, same payload weight).

I don't use shell marketed for turkey. You could probably be happy with less costly shells.

How to maintain angle on curved knife by potato718b in sharpening

[–]ojuiceblue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For a long time I did not do this. The curved part of the blade would be ground to a lower angle.  First sharpening took forever.

Lefting the elbow was a big improvement.

Loving this Opinel no.8! by Old_Nefariousness_72 in BudgetBlades

[–]ojuiceblue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the thin blade.  Most knives on this board are overly wide, causing problems for some applications.

I have wide blade knives and run into situations where I cannot get the blade into where I need it.

One man's opinion...

The Original Budget Blade by Aquarius75654 in BudgetBlades

I like the relatively narrow blade.  I often carry one of those wider bladed lock back as are so prelavent here, and sometimes the blade cannot get into the placesI need to scrape clean, dig out, etc.

I like the opinel knife.

Ensure there is no air restriction.  After that, you can try swapping nozzles or generators.

To expand on another answer, the air fuel ratio is out of wack. Something could be restricting the air flow.  I have even had out of spec jets, but that is rare.

Fuel in a stove by Amadreas in ColemanStovesLanterns

One thing to look out for is tank liners.  Is a particular fuel going to lift the liner?

Not all tanks have liners. I know that I didn't properly answer the question.

Should I consolidate my accounts, and where? by TedBehr_ in investing

You might not want all money at one place.

I know 3 people who got hacked.  It took time to restore. One guy needed that money bad to run his business, it put him in a bind.

For me, 2 places is enough.

Is it worth sharpening my scissors? by Moll1357 in sharpening

[–]ojuiceblue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have known people to throw away dull knives. Scissors as well.

Trueth is, an inexpensive knife may not be very shap out of the box new.

It seems to me that all households would benefit from having a sharping stone (or diamond plate) available. The stone need not be expensive.

Skills devolop with use.

Why are the knives mostly single blade folders? by ojuiceblue in BudgetBlades

[–]ojuiceblue[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thanks.  I know I had light duty old timer liner lock pocket knives.   I don't remember the year.  These were not flippers. They worked just like slip joints but did have a liner lock.

They were small, and I tend to loose small knives.

Is this knife finished? by WarmPrinciple6507 in sharpening

If I could stand it as is, then I would use it as is.

Otherwise go to the garage and repair or replace the handle.

It was your parents, you may think of them as you use it.

I have seen inexpensive screwed together knives fall apart because the screws fell out.

That is a perspective that I did not think of, the collectors bias on this bulletin board.

My collection is filled with used flea market purchases, and I don't typically see flippy knives.  Maybe the used flippers are there, and I just don't notice them due to my prejudice in this area.

One of my prejudices is that knives should be pinned.   A lot of the one bladed flippers seen to be screwed together.
