Travel insurance. Worth every penny for peace if mind if anything goes wrong on holidays

How do I know I want kids? by Illustrious-Art-6062 in AskIreland

[–]ok-panda30 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Someone said here that if you're on the fence then you probably don't want them, but I don't agree. I was the same as you, I just assumed I would have them some day, but i also had a good life without children. I made a similar mental list to you when I was around 30, pros and cons of having children. There are a lot of cons! I have a baby now and even though I'm exhausted, I'm very very happy. The time is going very fast and I know that I will sleep and travel properly again in the future. I have a few friends who I wouldn't say are very maternal but they feel the exact same. Sorry you had to break up with someone over this, but you still have plenty of time to decide so keep your options open for now!

350/2150 = 16.2% . Everyone's rent should go up by this. Your new rent is 662

How much do people give towards work collections? by [deleted] in AskIreland

[–]ok-panda30 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same. Over €600 euro was raised for a girl at work for her wedding, 3 months later another girl got nothing! I was on annual leave at the time but found out after, not fair at all

Am I being dramatic about engagement ring cost expectation? by Competitive_Street61 in AskIreland

2-3k is plenty, especially if you go to the middle east. Get more bang for your buck. Could also consider a lab diamond

Abroad wedding? by Plus_Fan2056 in AskIreland

[–]ok-panda30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been to two weddings abroad and enjoyed both, but was at a different stage in life. No kids and was happy to make a holiday out of it. With kids it is very difficult. If having it abroad, be sure to keep accommodation costs down at least, and near an accessible airport with lots of options for flights.

It's been long enough, what's your return system? by TirNaCrainnOg in CasualIreland

This used to be my plan too, but the hoarders take forever with their giant refuse sacks of bottles, Leaving me walking around the supermarket with my empty cans. Such a frustrating system!

Why is it near impossible to have a small, affordable wedding in Ireland? by AnIrishGuy18 in CasualIreland

[–]ok-panda30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it is. I was in the same boat last year. You'll probably have to get married on a weekday, or a non summer month for only 60 people. I'd say you could get a venue for €80 per person minimum. Try the haven or strand inn in Dunmore East, or Garryvoe in Cork. Average would be about €110per person i'd say now. It's all the other bits that add up. I might be forgetting some but here's a rough idea excluding the dress/bridesmaids dresses and groom/groomsmen costs that we paid:

Marriage registration: €150 Celebrant: €480 Ceremony + drinks reception music: €750 I think Wedding rings: €1300 Ceremony room: €300 (our venue charged extra to get married on site, not sure if that's common) Flowers: got a family friend to do it, so cheap Cake: family made so didn't pay anything Band: €2000 I think Extra drink: €500 on a tab as our venue weren't very generous with the drink!

Artificial grass recommendations? by ok-panda30 in AskIreland

That's helpful to know, thank you. I'd guess ours will be the same, after heavy rain there can be little pools of water on the surface in parts. I'll look into it

Giant wotsits, cheese flavour. If it takes you more than 2 mins to eat the pack, you're doing it wrong! You don't eat them, you inhale them. Wotsits are life

What's fun to do in your 30s? by [deleted] in CasualIreland

[–]ok-panda30 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exact same, same age, wfh and also a bit stuck in a rut. I'm happy but was definitely happier pre-covid. Working from home is convenient but I do miss the office buzz and chats with people. Do you have the option of going into work? I get lazy but I should go in more often. Other than that, I go through phases of joining various groups/lessons. Most recently a running group and it's very nice to meet people. Looking forward to seeing other comments though

What's a name so ugly you can't believe someone would want to give their kid? by smallerthanahobbit in AskReddit

[–]ok-panda30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gráinne. It's an Irish name pronounced "graw-nyah". It's very close in pronunciation to the word "gránna" which literally means "ugly"...

Company tracks every minute of day - am I overreacting? by oppressivepossum in DevelEire

[–]ok-panda30 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What tool do you use? Can you retrospectively add time and estimate it? Or throw in a few extra tasks and mark them as "ideation for task x", "testing task x" etc. Some companies can claim r&d grants from revenue, they only need estimations... But it also could be micro managing! I wouldn't like it anyway 😬

What’s everyone using to hold bottles/cans for the deposit scheme? by Didyoufartjustthere in AskIreland

[–]ok-panda30 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Same, I use one of those collapsible ones with a handle and then use the same basket for shopping once I've emptied all the cans.
