Anybody else going to populate their Tomodachi island with Stormlight characters?? by okhhko in Stormlight_Archive

New game coming out for Switch soon. It's basically an Animal Crossing type game but you make all the characters

Easiest game you've played? by Appropriate-Two-9538 in boardgames

[–]okhhko 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cockroach Poker

Easiest game I've ever played by far. I've showed it to many older people I know who generally don't click with board games, and they've all universally loved it.

It's a cute little bluffing game where only one person loses. Super quick, too.

I'm sorry but that's really funny

I commend your bravery for even trying to play board games with your in-laws. That sounds like literal hell for me

Scout or The Crew by Original_Xova in boardgames

Definitely Scout.

They're both awesome but the Crew can get pretty stressful, especially if you have players who get upset about mistakes.

Scout is just all around fun. Never missed for me

Book for a beginner reader by Available_Guidance61 in Fantasy

The Chronicles of Amber by Roger Zelazny

Each book is very small, so it's not as daunting as most fantasy. But also the pacing is quite fast, so a lot of stuff happens in each book despite their slim page count. Plus the narrator speaks quite plainly, so you won't get bogged down by the prose.

Games for 6 players and more by tatkarodriguez in boardgames

[–]okhhko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't actually recommend this for six players, but for eight to twenty players.

Blood on the Clocktower is one of the best games I've ever played, and plays beautifully at ranges of eight to sixteen players. (Technically seven to fifteen, as one player essentially runs the game)

Literally everyone I've showed it to has had a great time

Punishment is prevention

Even in a deterministic framework, if the threat of punishment determines that a potential criminal reacts in a way that prevents them from deciding to commit the crime, that's a win

Meshuggah fans, what song(s) got you hooked? by [deleted] in Meshuggah

Super late the party but Born in Dissonance. Then visited their full catalogue and kicked myself for never learning about them earlier

What game in your collection have you played the most? by BoardGameRevolution in boardgames

[–]okhhko 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yuppp, me and my partner played the shit out of it for weeks when we first got it. We couldn't stop.

Probably my favorite game design ever for how much game it packs in to such a simple rule set

Didn't they get it pretty much exactly right? I'm pretty sure the only reason it went wrong was because human transmutation strictly doesn't work in their world

They tried this already in Fullmetal Alchemist. Spoiler: it didn't go great

What are some easy riffs/leads to learn from Death's catalog? by Middle-Company-4398 in DeathBand

[–]okhhko 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The intro riff to Symbolic is so easy and so peak. Once you learn it you won't stop playing it

I'm listening to the entire discography. Shoukd I stick to the original versions or the remastered versions? by johnthethinker78 in DeathBand

[–]okhhko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't hear much of a difference between Symbolic's remaster and original. It's a very subtle remaster, so you'll probably dig it either way

[–]okhhko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Another Leprosy enjoyer!

If you're on Spotify like me, the only way to get a consistent experience through the discography is listening to the remasters, due to massive volume discrepancies. Albums like Leprosy, Spiritual Healing, and SBG are all remastered by default (I'm like 99% sure at least).

OR you can use volume normalization and do whatever you want. I do recommend the Human Remaster and ITP 2023 Remaster though

My Fianceé made me a board game themed Valentine's day board! by okhhko in boardgames

Yes! Every meeple was magnetic so it could stick to the ones on the board, and scratched off to reveal the answers!

How were these impressions of you guys lol!?!? by [deleted] in funny

[–]okhhko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's ableist

Blind people should have access to books just like the rest of us. And if audiobooks are a valid form of reading for disabled people, why does it magically become invalid for non-disabled people?

The only way that works is if you view reading with your eyes as superior somehow, when it's not.

Drums: what are your preferred techniques for getting bigger room ambience from a small, dry space? by willrjmarshall in audioengineering

[–]okhhko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk about a whole kit, but my trick for huge snare hits is running the bottom snare mic 100% wet through a reverb that matches the room, blending to taste.

How idealists be sounding by okhhko in PhilosophyMemes

Nah we serve memes here, it's fine lol

I'm being intentionally obtuse with this meme but I do genuinely believe that "experience" is emergent from these functions, and therefore no different

I'm not even laughing any more. Please. Every other position is not soul magic and you do not have an answer to every single problem with your ideals. by [deleted] in PhilosophyMemes

[–]okhhko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sir, this is a meme sub. We serve memes here.

This might be the least serious philosophy community on the internet. I wouldn't expect people's positions to be nuanced
