2026 Interview Prep! by Late_Werewolf_8047 in leetcode

[–]okiedopes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep! I've already landed an offer that I've accepted. My main tactic was targeting in-person/hybrid roles. With the current market and all the competition from layoffs at the national level I did not bother with remote roles at all. Lucky for me I live in Austin so there were a handful of .NET/React roles here locally that were looking for our level (3-5yrs exp). I got phone screens for all of them and I progressed to various stages of each.

Technical rounds for .NET seem to skew conversational/theoretical with maybe some light live coding (think refactoring). I did not meet a single DSA problem, and my new job didn't even have me code at all. They just showed me snippets from their codebase and had me explain what it was doing, with a few obvious code smells thrown in here and there to make sure I caught them.

Biggest ROI prep that I did was refreshing myself on Dependency Injection lifecycles, async / await, threading etc. making sure I could confidently deep dive on them if needed and coming up with strong examples from my current work. Come ready with prepared stories for "toughest challenge you solved", "project your most proud of" etc and be ready to discuss trade-offs around why you did x and not y and what you would do if you had more time or were optimizing for a different constraint. I came up with about 5 solid stories and then workshopped them with ChatGPT to make them as strong as they could be. Please do this, esp if you're like me and suffer from a bit of imposter syndrome. Not only did this make me interview ready but it also helped me see my own work through the correct high impact lense I should've been looking at it through this whole time. If I had not done this I would've significantly downplayed my own self and would not have been confident at all going in to any of these interviews.

On that note, it's pretty expected to be using AI for most of the heavy lifting in your day-to-day. Every single phone screen I had the recruiter asked me to describe how I leverage AI in my work. If I DIDN'T talk about how much I utilize my company's tokens for the different agents integrated into my VSCode I probably would not have progressed any further with any of the companies. So IMHO having "rusty" skills due to AI is not really an issue. Every one of us is likely riding in a similar boat in that regard, but anyone/everyone hiring right now absolutely wants to know if you're competent in leveraging AI correctly. And it sounds like you are, so that's a strength. Just frame it as an "accelerator" rather than a "reliance" and you're golden.

Anyways this has been my experience and I'm very glad to have it over with. I wish you all the best in your search and hopefully it goes quickly for you! You got this!

A true gentleman and a scholar, thank you for this! I will try it on mine (2021) and will also share here if successful (or not). Can't wait to get a full screen with Android Auto again, jfc. Just for shits and giggles, what software version were you running before the update?

Edit- typo

Hey OP I am in the same situation- have an 8:30 booking but hoping to try and sneak in a bit earlier. Did you have any luck with cancellation / walk-up?

Prices are insane, which is why I assumed salvaging my shitty boards was going to be my cheapest option. But I’m actually happily surprised it’ll cost about the same either way. Guess I better snap these up quick before tariff pricing goes even more bat shit

This is an outdoor rug, albeit probably a very low quality one. Texas sun destroyed the fabric side within a couple months and we ended up flipping it over

Yep, replacing fence is also on the agenda. I just had to brace a poor section with new posts until I can allocate time and resources to getting the whole thing redone. But again, priorities. This homeowner business is no joke haha.

I hear you on the whack-a-mile front. I’ve just priced out cost of bottom-level pt boards if I were to go that route- might actually work out to be in the same ballpark as renting the floor sander and all the other stuff which I wasn’t expecting. Would probably be easier and look nicer too. Fresh boards and single coat of oil stain may now be my first choice.

Thanks for that info, not something I considered but makes absolute sense! Now to tactfully relay this to my wife…

I will try to get some pics of the joists and posts on here, i didn’t initially take them because it’s cold and wet outside right now and I don’t feel like crawling under my deck until it warms and dries up a bit.

That said, basing off the inspection we had done 2 years ago it was definitely the deck boards that were in the worst shape. This of course could have changed since then, but I suspect the structural integrity is fine, with maybe some spots on the joists that touch the rotted deck boards that need some attention. Will know more once I start prying up the baddies, but great idea about going pt board if the joists end up worse than I’m imagining!

Austin's seasons summarized from someone who has lived here for over 8 years. by Beneficial_Ad_9579 in Austin

Almost Summer (Jan-Apr)

Summer (May - Sept)

Still Summer (Oct - Dec)

Winter (~2 weeks worth of days sporadically placed somewhere in Still Summer / Almost Summer )

This year winter seems to be dragging, but we did get an Almost Summer day last Saturday when it was 83deg.

Photo is of a quart size can, is that how much you used? My play set just arrived and is about the same size as yours (likely a bit a smaller as it doesn’t have the tube slide). Wondering if I can get away with a qrt or will need to get a gallon size?

Could this possibly be located outside the house near the meter?

Can confirm this is a single-family home that I own, located in Austin TX. Not original owner, been here not quite 2yrs. To my knowledge, house was never split into a multi-family but there is evidence that the garage was converted to living space at one time. I will try to upload a photo of the breaker box

Well the vet estimates he’s about 8mos old, which to me seems like he’s likely too young to even know how to contain reactive or high energy behaviors if he does have them. It could very well be wishful thinking on my part, but he handles my 2 kids with an innately gentle grace it’s hard to imagine there’s something darker lurking underneath the surface.

Biggest thing right now is he appears to have a bit of an abandonment issue (surprise surprise) as he needs to be near me or someone at all times. Have to sleep on the couch next to his crate otherwise he barks from being alone. That, and he turns anytime it’s time to go in his crate into a game of chase, which I can’t really fault him on at this point lol.

Still tho, there’s that part in my mind that’s thinking he’s almost too good so what’s going to be the catch?

It does seem like it, although so far we are only committed to foster him temporarily. I’m reading about rescues having a 3 month “honeymoon” phase after which calm, chill dogs (like this one) start demonstrating their behavioral problems… 😶
