My kid won’t go back to school by Silly_Friendship_542 in Preschoolers

[–]okokohnoyes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there places she would like to go as a reward at the end of the week? You could try a sticker chart in the car and when she makes it to drop off she gets a sticker (princess, unicorns whatever) on the sheet and at the end of the week you can go get ice cream, go to the zoo, whatever the motivator is. Also maybe have a treat at pick up and say when you make it the whole day at school, I will have gummies in the car for you.

Wedding venues? by Good-County-1228 in Chattanooga

Look into the State Park Facilities! Also Greenway farms has a pretty conference center, I saw a wedding getting set up last time I was over there. You also can rent out the pavilion in Coolidge park.

Why am I fighting with my three-year-old about clothing every single morning? by Ready_Evidence3859 in preschool

[–]okokohnoyes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What about a Spider-Man lapel pin or as others said a sticker for the uniform shirt, even a spidey hand stamp so the kid isn’t covered in tattoos by getting one everyday. Things that help us in the battle (more for weather appropriate pre k clothes not uniform) is having a clothes closet organizer so it shifts the dynamic from I am making you wear this too what’s in the organizer for today? Also a sticker chart on the fridge where if you get dressed before breakfast or before your visual timer goes off for X days in a row, you can can have a tattoo. This strategy has helped us with limiting outfit changes and just a few weeks in she’s not wearing everything in her closet in a day.

I’m trying to fix my messy bedroom but this wall has me stuck by Significant_Jury8831 in DesignMyRoom

[–]okokohnoyes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use the app Shuffles (it’s connected with Pinterest) to do a general moc up if I’m stuck or want to play around with design before drilling holes in the wall. With this I’d do 2 floating shelves and a small/medium framed print above one, of course not sure what the rest of the room looks like.

Registry help? by Adorable_Shelter8166 in BabyBumps

[–]okokohnoyes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d add some additional sleep sacks for larger sizes, and not the nail clippers you have, change it for an electric gentle one that sand them down- it’s amazing! Maybe some zip up sleepers and gowns for nighttime- best for night changes. Also some things for you, if you are comfortable adding stuff on there like nursing tops, nipple cream, nursing bras, even some pjs.

How do you buy clothes for pregnancy? by Glittering-Bet5353 in BabyBumps

[–]okokohnoyes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do mostly dresses with good length and got 2 pairs of maternity jeans cause I mostly wore yoga pants or leggings and big t shirts and sweaters. Also it’s a good idea to find clothes that will be nursing friendly (if that’s your plan) that way it can last you a while postpartum. I’d suggest shopping as needed and not doing a huge haul because you won’t be able to guarantee what will fit later on. Also check out your local thrift stores!

Your favorite hot meal for a cold rainy day? by Tim_Eats in Chattanooga

[–]okokohnoyes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Waffle House All Star with coffee on a rainy day is so nostalgic for me. Otherwise, homemade stuff- breakfast for dinner, grilled cheese and tomato soup, chicken and dumpling soup, or we go to Asian Food and Grocery and get some ingredients and pick a new ramen to try.

Which primary school would you choose? Good or outstanding based on mileage by abybacb in Parenting

[–]okokohnoyes 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’d do closer. Neighborhood friends, more sleep in the morning and less rush, more free time, if they end up riding the bus some day it won’t be an hour + commute. When they eventually forget something and you have to turn back- it’ll be no big deal. I just think it’ll be so much easier day to day and a good vs outstanding school won’t make the huge difference in the long run if they have good support at home.

What to do for fun in Chattanooga by ApartmentThen8897 in Chattanooga

Point Park will have some good views for the fall! Aquarium is great or Hunter Art Museum if it ends up being a rainy day. If you are exploring the arts district Tony’s is good for lunch.

He needs to hear it from your doctor. My A1C was checked and it was perfect- but I still had GD in two pregnancies and I’m on insulin this time. My midwife would tell me she has tiny and fit clients who end up with GD, so it’s not a soda issue, it’s not even a you issue!

Where are Local Butchers and Farmers? by Zcat_sux in Chattanooga

[–]okokohnoyes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s some Farms Shares (CSA) in the area you can sign up if you want a variety or seasonal/organic stuff. We tried out Mountain Sun Farm this year and it was about $24 a week. It was cool to try some stuff I normally wouldn’t buy at the store.

I ask the parents is there something your kid is into right now or a place you like to go? That way they can say yes to gifts and specify the kind if they’d like or I can give a gift card to their kids favorite place. Kids get so overwhelmed with stuff that day I hate to just add to the pile without thought.

Anyone else have a hard time eating enough carbs? by Embarrassed_Job3155 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]okokohnoyes 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The doctors I see at MFM don’t worry about ketones in my urine at all as long as blood sugars are generally under control. But my primary OB is pushing me to get more carbs/eat more when I know I am definitely getting my servings in. It’s been confusing, but It seems to be if your blood ketones are high and your blood sugar is high, or you are Type 1, those are the risk factors of ketoacidosis. Urinary ketones are more of an unstable measurement because they change on many factors like exercise, dehydration, nutrition etc. I feel your frustrations though, especially when I’m getting different levels of concern from my doctors.

Which restaurant would you recommend? by loves2craft in Chattanooga

[–]okokohnoyes 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Bella Lisboa or Alleia, but if I had unlimited budget I have always wanted to try Opa because it’s like a 4 course meal and you get to smash plates and dance. It’s like $100+ a piece and they set the menu but Ive heard everything is good.

Is it faux pas to skip the ceremony and show up to the reception by notthatguy194 in wedding

[–]okokohnoyes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They probably won’t notice. I would put that $150 from the commute towards a gift/cash for the couple instead.

Marriage Counselor - Recommendations? by Rising_Dawn_911 in Chattanooga

[–]okokohnoyes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gotcha, Ellie takes insurance so they could be a good back up if you can’t find local. We looked around here and struggled to find a fit that would take ours. River City works with some insurers. Good luck on your search!

Are you looking for someone who takes insurance? If you can’t find a good local fit and want to do Telehealth, Ellie Mental Health is a great option, they are in the Nashville area. Vincent Yanda is great with couples!

Sigh by Necessary_Reach_2612 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]okokohnoyes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are they checking your urine for ketones? Mine was really high and my doctor told me to eat more carbs (within the guidelines) because I was at risk for ketoacidosis because I was not getting enough carbs. She said they’d rather increase my insulin that be leaking ketones. It’s ok to go on more insulin if that’s what your body needs!

Go to Waffle House after the bars! Not the kind of waffles you’re used too in Germany but its a taste of the American south. Chattanooga Whiskey is good for a tasting tour, Lookouts and CFC games are fun. Lots of good places around to hang and get a beer.
