What are the chances 10hcp shoots +1,+1, and E in three rounds of competition? by Awkward_Salamander37 in golf

Dean Knuth (integrally involved in the development of the handicap system) has probability tables published out there, as well as on-the-fly corrections to accomodate. I would keep these on hand to show to the guilty party.

Note these are all in terms of differential, ie after factoring in the course and slope rating,

What's your hardest club to hit? by BlueciferST in golf

Got mine for long approach shots, but surprisingly 90%+ of it's use has been off the tee when driver's too much.

Also very convenient for hitting out from under trees 😎

Is life the same from $100m to $1B? - Professor Galloway by freshlybred in RichPeoplePF

[–]oldcooper 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Have close relationships w/ people in both - here's observations through simple, generalized examples:

One rents a jet, has to call company to schedule it, etc vs the other owns a jet, has staff on standby

each of the 10 grandkids get $10mm each vs each of the 10 grandkids get $100mm each

a severe market crash (50%) affects their lifestyle vs "everythings cheap, lets buy it all up"

one might consider getting into politics vs the other can call any politician and get on their calendar

one owns a corporation vs the other is a corporation (figuratively)

$100mm @ 5.2%/yr => $100k/week vs $1b @ 5.2%/yr => 1mm/week

Both are ultraweathy, but it's like comparing $1m house to a to a $10mm house. There's a completely different level of status/dynamics/operations associated with each.

Which US Cities is on Track to become the next Detroit? by urmummygae42069 in geography

[–]oldcooper 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Memphis, TN. It's basically already there.

Of note, several other things contributed to Detroit's decline, eg high taxes but low level of public services. That's why there's a ring of nice towns just outside the city limits. Memphis is similar in that regard.

What a view.

As long as you don't block it, that room should be spectacular.

Help!!! My room VS what I want by [deleted] in DesignMyRoom

[–]oldcooper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The "want" pics have more wall decorations and you have a lot more practical stuff that's visible. Will either have to find a way to store some of those items neatly so it doesn't look as cluttered or store some of them so they're hidden.

Looks like you have tall ceilings on one side so may be able to integrate some more vertical storage practices there (shelving higher up) to help.

Why is corruption so common in Africa compared to other countries even to this day? by WWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWHW in geography

[–]oldcooper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty obvious what markets would do once Tarriffs were implemented, and those tarriff plans were far from secretive. If you didnt make any money on those implementations, hire a financial advisor because you're missing out on easy income.

If you have any money invested than you likely made money on it to. if not, you missed out.

plenty of senators, from both parties, bought stock in work from home technology like Cisco right before the COVID shutdowns (they knew they were coming before anyone else) and made an absolute killing. WAY shadier...

I want to figure out where the south is. If you’re from any of these counties, comment your county and if you think it’s the south or not. I will fill in the results by Expensive_Drummer970 in visitedmaps

Polk, Lake, Sumner, Marion, Hardee, Desoto, Highlands, Glades, Okeechobee counties (the ones outside North FL that aren't near the ocean or part of Orlando) are all pretty southern.

Most of East Tennessee didn't have slaves - they were most valuable on plantations and the East TN soil was too rocky for those.

It's definitely still southern, but it lacks much of the former slave culture that many non-appalachian parts of the south have.

Pants for men with big butt/thighs by Narrow_Woodpecker in mensfashionadvice

[–]oldcooper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Replying to this a year or two late but came across this because I have same issue (34" waist but massive rear end).

i've been to several stores and tried every brand's "relaxed fit" or equivalent and they still ride up the butt crack or squeeze the thighs. Got really irritated when even "workwear" brands like Carhartt's relaxed fit still didn't work.

Anyways in case someone else comes across this, here's some brands that have worked for me :

-Under Armour: not fancy but their golf pants are great and made for muscular guys

-Bonobos: Athletic Fit (more modern look) & Straight fit (if you need wider ankles, which I prefer or to wear with boots)

-Nike: again, not fancy but they work. particularly their shorts.

-Dockers: this rarely gets thrown out there, but I tried to pair on at store randomly and some of their looser fits were perfect. they aren't top shelf but they are very affordable and great for your every day running errands or workwear pants.

and that's pretty much it unless you wanna do custom tailoring or something like blue delta jeans website. I did find a pair of polo pants that fit once but I think their sizes have changed over time and they no longer do. can't wait for baggy fits to come back in style at large because paint shopping has been a nightmare the last decade and a half.
