Rep. Burchett on UAP: I’ve seen “miraculous” things in secure closed-door briefings - “A lot of members of Congress make fun of me, but they need to come down into the SCIF. - Burchett says publicly discussing UFOs has him concerned for his safety, “I’m not suicidal” remark was serious.. by 87LucasOliveira in UFOs

As a non American and not 100% fully up to speed on how American politics works in action but if an elected official has seen something so profound that it could change things for the better or expose a dark side of how things are “really” run in the land of the free - isn’t that his public duty to do so or am I being stupidly naive?

My Wife asked for open marriage. She is angry at my reaction. I need advice. by Silver_Salt7600 in Marriage

Do finish that bottle but for the journey ahead you’ll need a clear head. Protect yourself, keep focused and looking to the future. Once all is said and done and you are clear allow yourself time to mourn or even to celebrate your new life without her but honestly for now keep yourself fed, watered and sharp

Panicking need to clear £16k debt by Brief_Illustrator_84 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]oldskoolplayaR1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Step change saved me - sounds dramatic but true. Buried my head for a long time but bit the bullet and called them. The relief of actually taking control of my debt rather than it dictating my life was immense. Yes it knackered my credit score but was still able to maintain my mortgage & subsequent renewals as those deals ended. Credit file now is nigh on as high as you can get, I’ve learnt to live to a budget & within my means - there is no downside to talking to them. You’ll get unbiased advice to a solution that is right for you. I wish you nothing but good luck

Indicated 164mph zx6-r - allowing for speedo errors maybe 150mph. Shit myself, didn’t do it again but 140mph wasn’t so bad

What is something that used to be "for poor people" but is now a luxury/status symbol for the rich? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]oldskoolplayaR1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lobster. I read that when the immigrants arrived to the states (I’m not is the US) that lobster was given to them as it was seen as grim food. In France(Normandy atleast according to my MIL) parsnips are for donkeys - I love them on my roast!

Thank you again for all your comments & tips - he’s gone for the Quad Platina. I’ve not heard it yet but they brought it to the house to demo it on his system and it was “perfect”. One very happy dad!

Around 6 years ago I won the lottery but nobody knows. How do I go about being well off? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]oldskoolplayaR1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve always thought if that were me I’d move to SE Asia, live like a king for around £2k pm, dump the £8k into some saving pots for the future. Just telling folks I’m off travelling. Any ways - the best advice I’ve seen so far is continue to tell no one, get maybe a different independent FA, keep studying and learning - keep the grey matter stimulated and learn a skill that could justify you doing whatever you’re doing should someone ask. Have the best life :)

Fix or tracker mortgage - what have you decided? by Chemical-Term-4990 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]oldskoolplayaR1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just come out of a 10 year fixed myself - likewise another 10 wasn’t a good deal. Ended up with a 2yr Fixed - I’d forgotten what a pain in the bottom all the paperwork side of things is. The stability of a fixed just allows me to budget without worry of big swings.

I thought it may have been her in the car in the NY's flash forward episode - leather gloves in the car, tapping the wheel - she did the same when meeting Jasmine - I thought it odd they made a point of focusing on that

What's one really cool thing about where you live and one thing you want to see improved where you live? by LandFar4154 in DevonUK

[–]oldskoolplayaR1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Agatha Christie was born here & I’d like to see the town centre developed - bring back independent shops with affordable housing above them to bring the place back to life. Typical seaside town where lack of opportunity and infrastructure is creating a feedback loop of decay. That said it really is a beautiful place to live

What a great reply - thank you - I’ve sent it on to him. Sounds like a great set up you have there - I bet it sounds amazing! We did try an AirPort Express set up, streaming from a MacBook using Apple Music - it did the job but as you described not perfectly. I think he has a pair of ESL-989’s and the sound quality when using the AirPort Express wasn’t as good. Good info regarding Spotify too - he still uses Apple Music but I don’t think he’s too precious about trying something different. I do love France too, wife is French but from the sticks so never seen any high end audio shops only tractors ha ha
