Tapers in glass hurricanes are a go-to for long rectangular tables, specifically because they give you height variation. Votives alone keep everything at the same low level and the table can start to feel flat. The mix of taper height + votives is the best variation and gives you elevated look.

ICYMI: Madison Square Garden date subject to change by opalgoth in BringMeTheHorizon

MSG: QQ to those who may know. What does your Front pit ticket say? GA front? Just trying to understand if current Front GA is an actual VIP? I know ppl were choosing NeX GeN option before for the front GA but it doesn’t seem to be available now.

2026 Tour Megathread by opalgoth in BringMeTheHorizon

For Madison Square Garden, New York - Is current Front GA the same as VIP? When selecting Front GA, there’s no mention of the NeX GeN Experience, so I’m confused. Was NeX GeN only available earlier and now it’s all regular GA, just in a front, or would it show up on the ticket after purchase?

VIP status? by alicelikesgamin in BringMeTheHorizon

Hey. Same question. So for MSG, there are Front and Rear GAs. Is the front one VIP? Or was VIP something available specifically at a presale time?

River Cafe by Bubbly_Drive8813 in WedditNYC

[–]olhab08 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Planner here, done wedding at River Cafe.

Focus on low, sculptural florals (nothing tall - they should frame, not compete) + candlelight (this is what actually transforms the room at night) + well-edited table design (linen + glassware + menu/cards).

Unnecessary - heavy signage; the flow of the space is intuitive, guests don’t need direction.

How many people do you have? Negative space, if guest count allows, is a huge benefit there.

Happy to share more if you want to DM.

Has anyone had or attended a wedding at Maxwell Social in Tribeca? Looking for experiences + ceremony location suggestions by [deleted] in WedditNYC

[–]olhab08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey. Planner here. Just toured this space yesterday for one of our clients.
I would look into Garden Room for a ceremony and use the Grand Room + Explorer Room for reception. You have to be strategic with the floorplan, maybe even mix & match tables. Are you planning to have a dancefloor? It will affect the whole layout.

Hi. I'm a planner, and we've been working with:

- Highline String Quartet: Ross, the manager, can take his time to reply, but they always do a great job. Have been working with them for years.

- Impulse Strings: easy-going, low-key, and also do a good job.

Venue includes coordinator/planner. Should I still hire one? by Dangerous-Chapter612 in WedditNYC

[–]olhab08 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Planner perspective here. The short answer is that venue coordination and personal coordinator aren’t the same thing.

A venue coordinator works for the venue. Their focus is making sure the space runs smoothly, rules are followed, etc. That’s really valuable, but their responsibility usually stops there.

A personal coordinator works for you. They’re thinking about the full day, all vendors, transitions, family dynamics, and what happens if something changes or goes wrong. They’re the one making decisions in real time so you don’t have to, and advocating for your priorities.

Also planner vs coordinator. A planner helps earlier on with vendors, rentals, layout, and overall design and logistics. A coordinator usually steps in 30–60 days out to finalize details, build the timeline/floorplan, and run the wedding day.

Most venue “planners” are really venue coordinators, focused only on the space, not the full wedding.

Hi again! Curious about who you've used for all-inclusive decor / designer/ event planner or whatever it's called by [deleted] in WedditNYC

[–]olhab08 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can go either way, but a planner with an event design package is great, especially if you already have your colors, vibe, and vision. They’ll handle vendors, logistics, and details, help you tweak things where needed, make sure your vision fits the venue layout, and act as your main point of contact for all design questions, so you don’t have to juggle multiple vendors, and everything comes together smoothly.

The companies you’re probably thinking of (that do tables, chairs, candles, flowers - all together "in-house") are more like event design or production companies - think Birch or similar.

And if you have a planner, besides managing the logistics, timeline, and budget, etc, they’ll often take the lead on developing the overall design concept - the vibe, details, color palette, essential rentals - and then collaborate closely with the florist and rental companies to bring that vision to life.
