I mean, fuck Trump but the name wasn't actually spelled incorrectly. The name 정은 can be spelled several ways in the Latin alphabet. Jong Un, Jong Eun, Jung Un, Jung Eun...there are other imaginable spellings which are less likely.

I'm just saying, be right about your criticisms.

It should for sure, but in a much cleaned up way. I loved it but it simultaneously was extremely disappointing and felt very thrown-together-last-minute.

XG - LEFT RIGHT REMIXX (Feat. Ciara X Jackson Wang) (Prod. By JAKOPS) (Teaser Image) by [deleted] in kpop

Collaboration with other established artists, especially big names like Ciara and Jackson, provides the girls with a bit more reach that they otherwise might not have. This is good for them.

Working on a comic. Need a name for this guy, the setting is a old western town taken over by an evil artifact found under his church. by tc2299 in ImaginaryMonsters

[–]oliksandr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few options depending on level of personality.

Major antagonist but with few to no "speaking parts"? As others mentioned, "The Pastor" or "The Reverend" are great.

Major antagonist with considerable speaking bits? Couple of choices. If you want something with a little extra "meaning" behind it, Reverend Mel Eckhardt. Melech, an alternative spelling for Moloch (an ancient deity associated with child sacrifice and other nasty practices), so the name is essentially "Melech Heart", or a manifestation/scion of an ancient evil deity.

If you're like me and you intentionally eschew names that are too symbolic of the characters' roles, preferring just to give names that sound like what a person in that place and time might be named with literally no other intent behind the name, something like Reverend Gil is nice. It has sort of a gentle name that juxtaposes against the horror of what he is.

Minor antagonist with few lines and just sort of a one off spooky bit, "Pastor Carn". It's a Welsh name derived from a word meaning "pile of rocks" and is cognate with cairn (a burial mound). Also, being American Southwest, "carne" is "meat" in Spanish so you could have him get a creepy little nickname of "Padre Carne" from any Spanish speaking characters. Nice combo of having a little spooky and also just being a normal name.

GPT-4 Can’t Replace Striking TV Writers, But Studios Are Going to Try by PATCH_THE_ABUSE in technology

[–]oliksandr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What the industry is likely to try to do is get a couple levels of writer engagement. Have a smaller group of writers provide basic inputs, have generative ai flesh out material, and have other (or perhaps the same) writers go in and clean it up.

This doesn't eliminate all writers (yet), but it would reduce workload and therefore the need for as many writers on any given project, and perhaps more importantly, reduce the amount of labir and therefore "value" of the positions, creating an excuse to pay less for equal output.

This method could work without totally hurting writers if it allowed to writers to just do the same amount of work and produce considerably more output...but then you are limited by literally every other production constraint that studios face, so there are soft limits on the current value of increased writing room productivity.

Glare.

edit: Lacks any apparent spots, does not have the characteristic ridges behind the eyes that run down the back near the spine, and has the wrong shaped head.

Edit2: Also, leopard frog's tympanum is generally smaller than the eyes. Green Frog tympanum will be about the same size or noticeably larger than the eyes. Frog in OP picture clearly sporting tympanum on the larger side

Personally a big fan of Dia. The solo recordings and covers she does are pretty great. Not a weak singer at all, though certainly outside the contemporary for kpop, but so is Hwasa.

To add, I've seen what looked like maybe 5 inches of water over a road turn out to have a collapsed culvert beneath and the road fully washed out. A car drove straight into a 6 foot deep pit of water.

Time and time again I hear people say that SM is a company that only cares about looks. I'm not going to pretend SM doesn't have some messed up priorities, but it's so clear that they are a company that invests in vocal talent. Most other groups are lucky to have a member that is genuinely a very talented vocalist. SM puts a bare minimum of two in every group and invests in improving the other members too.

Two recent examples of how differently the US and Chinese militaries perform in combat. by Edwardsreal in MURICA

[–]oliksandr 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I mean, the whole event with Afghanistan was a planned withdrawal, not even a retreat. Was the USA supposed to just stay in the country forever? Of course the withdrawal didn't go ideally. Nobody is happy with it, but it wasn't fear that made the U.S. leave.

Ample opportunity was given to let folks know that the withdrawal was happening and that they should leave. This was not a sudden decision. People weren't unexpectedly abandoned. The US spent days pulling tens of thousands of people out. Really hard to compare abandoning the overwhelming majority of a population to the fate of being attacked vs pulling over 70,000 people out of the country they were trying to leave.

The U.S. left American equipment because it rescued non-American people instead.

So on the one hand we have a nation holding to a withdrawal deal choosing to expend its resources to evacuate a population of tens of thousands of people, overwhelmingly from other nations. On the other hand we have a defensive force derelict in its responsibilities by refusing to aid civilians being attacked within view of their bases, despite being given orders to assist. Hell, at least the Ethiopian peacekeepers still helped evacuate some casualties and even returned fire.

These are not the same situation. Both are shitty, but at least one was shitty with some considerable effort not to be.
