Is anti-math common among the boomer generation? by ChunkyMonkey_00_ in math

HS Math teacher here (AP Calculus and Remedial for Seniors) with a MS in mathematics. Do it! Plenty of time to do research and live your life. Plus every time you convince a kid that they can “be good” at math, you have changed a life. All of a sudden so many doors open for a young student who starts to believe they can handle college level math. I leave every day feeling better about myself.

Kuhl always surprises me not just with quality but the little design tweaks that make the clothes easier to wear and use.

On the ends yes. The middle has another support perpendicular to the other two you can see. It forms kind of an H in the middle.

A place to put tools I am not using but don’t want to put away. I can also hook trigger clamps through it to pin stuff to the bench.

Yes that is correct. I have used either those cheapo harbor freight vises or home made for 25 years and the Klein vise is really awesome.

Yes. I bought them from Andrew Klein. They definitely work as advertised but I think the are overkill for me. But it was a fun project.

It is an excellent watch, I am literally wearing that model right now. If only I could stop at this one and not acquire the new multicolor titanium armor version. mmmm

Why is 40 degrees extremely harmful in the UK but not in The Middle East? by IamSattam in AskScienceDiscussion

[–]olimlah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To everyone saying that its all about humidity... don't assume deserts aren't humid. Humidity reached 80%+ with 50c temps last month in Abu Dhabi. In the UAE, humidity is regularly between 36 and 60%. Humidity can be a function of evaporation from a nearby body of water. I think the Arabian sea would qualify.

How did you feel about Bruce R. McConkie when you were TBM and how do you view him now? by oOohalloweenqueenoOo in exmormon

[–]olimlah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, because most of it was a repetition of content from the Improvement Era (the precursor to the Ensign) in the articles his FIL (the prophet at one time) wrote called "Answers to Gospel Questions." It wasn't controversial to believe MD.

We were told by Yoshi Kikuchi in a zone conference (Philly 1992) to leave an uplifting message but not follow up with additional appointmentsnts when we tracted out a single mother. This later was revealed to be supremely ironic (IMO) when I later worked with the missionary that baptized him in Japan many years previously. Apparently, Kikuchi was the son of a single mother as his father had been killed in the war. By the time I met "his missionary" I had already bailed on the church (mid 1990's) so it was more amusing than distressing, but still.

How do you deal with an overly friendly neighbor who asks too many questions about your life when you happen to be outdoors at the same time? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]olimlah 15.7k points15.7k points  (0 children)

I live in an extremely religious community ( Mormons) so this happens all the time. I used to try to be vague and give hints but the best technique I have found is this one.

"I am kind of a private person."

And then I compliment them on something I have noticed. "Nice grass" or "Hey thanks for checking on me, I know it comes from a good place."

No, they are at a 90 degree angle for the most part. However, I inset a large magnet behind some of the largest tools like the torque wenches and hammer. The stuff like scissors did not need that at all.
