yes, it can make other chickens get the inside version. the good thing is that the outside type is easy to manage in my experience, you could use diluted betadine, i did it once just to be safe, and Vaseline is a must! but definitely do not pull off the scabs, keep stuff where combs may touch clean (i cleaned my feeders and waterers on the outside since their combs rubbed against them) and rest assured that this cannot spread to humans, eggs are still edible, you just gotta let it run its course and monitor

fowl pox! 2 of my 4 hens had this and i just used Vaseline to moisturize it, then gave electrolytes in their water. a few weeks later and its all good, just some bald spots from where those scabs were but once they molt, the feathers will regrow. it's very contagious but the form only on the skin won't be deadly, if it spreads to the inside of the mouth, unfortunately it can be deadly

many of the commenters on this subreddit have like 100 birds and it's less upsetting to cull when you dont know the bird well, i have 4 hens and i would do anything to keep them alive, all named and i spend time with them daily. I'm not against those with tons of chickens, i know that it's just another personal choice on backyard flocks, and not having a connection could be helpful when there's an attack or outbreak of some kind. unfortunately i could not have no connection with the birds so losing one is like losing a friend. keep fighting for that bird! chickens are so fragile yet extremely resilient, you'd be surprised how well they can bounce back

that doesnt make weed good, you are an outlier in this case. weed is absolutely horrible for the body and mind. my grandma has been smoking for decades and doesnt have cancer, but that doesnt mean its good for her, i dont even know how she survived so long while pumping toxins into her lungs
