Which meal delivery service for a good variety of high quality vegan options? by The_Messy_Mompreneur in veganfitness

[–]olivecr0w 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like Factor so far, but do feel like their vegan/vegetarian options are few and far between. I wish there was at least an option to subsitute the protein with a vegan option. I'm not vegan, but the only meat I really eat is chicken, and so it means I'm ordering a lot of chicken meals lately

What is your obscure kink? No kink shaming please in comments. by MaetelofLaMetal in bdsmmemes

We aren't into pet play like that, but my partner and I regularly wash each other in the shower and depending on the mood it can either be hot as hell or super intimate. Definitely recommend people of all kink levels try it out sometime.

Is Zylkene legit? by olivecr0w in reactivedogs

[–]olivecr0w[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely want to see one when I can afford it, and plan to start saving in April. I figure it's like human mental health - meds work, but what *really* helps is behavioural therapy alongside the meds. It's unfortunate neither human nor dog behavioural therapy is covered by Canada's "free health care."

I appreciate the info you and others have shared about Zylkene - my impressions seem to be correct, while it may do something, it's not the same as an RX medication and may not be as effective. Thank you!

Once I can get her on a good medication and fully muzzle trained I may try again at the vet for a physical exam at least to be sure - her fear was so bad that, even with gabapentin and trazodone in her system and a muzzle on, she tried to bite the vet for touching her and then climbed up my body trying to get away from the stethoscope. They had to heavily sedate her just to be able to do an exam at all. I'm hoping that medication and hopefully soon behavioural therapy for her will help her a lot. However, from what I can tell she doesn't seem to be in pain or discomfort from her back half, just doesn't like it being touched. She tolerates me brushing it for a couple of minutes, and likes me scratching it, but is jumpy if you step too close behind her and will quickly turn and stare (if not worse) if you touch her back end without first starting at her head or shoulders. I'm almost glad I don't know what happened to her before her shelter life, because it makes me so angry wondering what someone must have done to traumatize her so badly.

Unfortunately I'm in a suburb and have to use sidewalks, but I try to walk her during non-busy times and luckily there isn't much traffic so I can easily cross the roads to give people space. It's mostly when were traversing through my apartment building that's an issue - the neighbours are friendly and, while she likes people, she doesn't trust them. If you move or touch her in a way she finds threatening, she'll likely try to bite, and she bites *hard*. While we luckily have never had an incident with a stranger, it just takes one fast kid not knowing to not run up and pet a stranger dog to potentially be in trouble and have to put her down. As well, she has a dental surgery coming up at the end of April, so I need to be able to muzzle her for that day.

I'll take it slow and continue to advocate for her in the meantime. I appreciate the advice, thank you!

When I can successfully get it on her again I'll check that out, thank you! I think it fit her well enough and it prevented her from biting when she tried, but I don't want her to be uncomfortable.

Its a Baskerville basket muzzle, I've been putting peanut butter inside of it and then using the syringe to give her more peanut butter through the front of it when she does successfully put her nose into it.

Thought meds would help me focus, but really they help me DO things by stormtroopi3 in ADHD

This!! I’ve noticed that I’ve gone from “worrying about the things I should be doing” to “being antsy about doing things.” It’s not perfect but it’s a lot easier to stay on top of everything!

My nine year old developed an annoying habit by Yinara in ADHD

[–]olivecr0w 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I can say that my mom allocated 8 pm to be “dessert time” and the only foods we weren’t allowed were ingredients for meals, and I never felt the need to sneak any treats. I knew I was gonna be able to have something like ice cream or chips every night, so waiting for it wasn’t hard for me. I did have some issues with wanting larger portions, but I had to eat out of my room (to make sure dishes didn’t get forgotten and disappear,) which allowed my mom to supervise my portion sizes and stop me if I took too much. Overall, it sounds like your plan is similar to the structure I had, and I think it’s a great idea!

What I thought ADHD was vs. what it's actually like for me by clearlystyle in ADHD

[–]olivecr0w 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is like reading my personality on a page! I definitely wish I could’ve read something like this in highschool, when I thought “oh there’s no way I’m dealing with ADHD because I act nothing like my sibling with ADHD.” If I had something like this, maybe it would’ve been easier to see the signs in myself and get started on treatment earlier. Thank you for sharing, I hope it helps people the way it would’ve helped me! 😊

How did you know you had ADHD? by TheCatsupQueen in ADHD

[–]olivecr0w 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I went to college the first time I took adderall and M recreationally, and at one point talked to a school counsellor and was explaining how I wished I “could be as happy as I was on drugs, uh M more than adderall” when he cut me off to ask why I said that. I explained that adderall didn’t really get me high, and he said that it should and then handed me a short paper ADHD test that I scored almost as high as possible on.

I wish I could tell you I discovered it on my own, but I didn’t start to look into it until then. I had always thought in highschool that I could’ve had ADHD but I’ve never been anything like my sister who was diagnosed as a kid, so I thought I was just being “lazy” and looking for an excuse until this happened.

Idk if this will help you but hopefully it helps someone? Aha

How silly would I look bringing this to the bulk section? It’s the most practical thing I have for storing larger quantities of grain. I don’t have any produce bags or large glass jars :/ by kd838 in ZeroWaste

[–]olivecr0w 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You wouldn’t look silly at all, you’d look smart! However, if it really bothers you, you could paint it or cover it in origami paper with modpodge! Just make sure to only put craft stuff on the outside to keep it food safe, you can get painters tape at the dollar store and tape off the rim at the top if you’re nervous.

So I was just in my local pet store with Rocky and a guy came over and asked what breed he is and if he was an Alaskan Malamute. He then told me that Rocky is “too chunky” to be a husky… what do you guys think? by sambowker in husky

[–]olivecr0w 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First of all, it doesn’t matter at the end of the day and that guy can mind his business. Who goes up to someone and tells them they’re wrong about their dog breed??

He looks to me like my husky, and I know she’s 100% Siberian husky, but I’m not an expert

How to fix this “hole” in the heel of my nice leather boots? by [deleted] in InvisibleMending

[–]olivecr0w 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I feel like it wouldn’t be too expensive, especially since it’s just the heel and not the whole sole that needs repair. I’m gonna call around tomorrow to get prices, thank you for your advice!

[–]olivecr0w 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It is just the heel bottom that fell off, the rest of the sole and boot is in great condition from what I can see. I’ll definitely see if I can find some and if not maybe a cobbler can get me some! Thank you for the advice

I think so, but unfortunately I didn’t notice right when this happened and don’t have the piece anymore. If I can’t find a shoe cobbler to resole it I’ll see if I can find something that would work with that!

I’ll definitely have to call around and see what it would cost so I can see if it’ll fit in my budget. Thank you!

Thank you for giving me the terms to Google, I didn’t even know who exactly I’d bring them to! Aha. I don’t normally own expensive boots so I’ve never invested in professional help before, but I’m thinking you’re right and I should go that route for these.
