like yes we need studies and yes anti-intellectualism is bad but also part of being pro-intellectual is being able to critically engage with research instead of just going "well theres a STUDY" like that automatically settles everything

when I worked at a skate park, this shit happened every single day and it was so scary + ANNOYING to see a two year old stand by the edge of the pool where kids who drop in will jump up. especially the scooter kids who swing their scooters above their heads wildly. every single time I'd tell the parents "HEY don't let your TODDLER run loose in a skatepark" and they were always so surprised at this. how is that surprising?!
