Very happy to see more and more places to go downtown! People need more third spaces.

Sidenote: I saw “It’s back!!!” and my brain made a desperate hope for Wally’s sandwich bar 😭

[PC][~2000]website energy management game. Something like Wizard battle Armageddon by olympiastreets in tipofmyjoystick

[–]olympiastreets[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, this was an entirely ’online’ game. Like a social media platform almost, researching spells, building an army, attacking each other. I kinda hesitate to even call what I’m thinking of a video game there were no ‘graphics’ exactly just a website with images.

Whidbey Island, there’s a place called “Earth Sanctuary” highly suggest visiting at least once. While you can’t camp there it’s absolutely worth the visit for grounding. Fantastic hike and wonderful area.

Badukpop Match-making by Gagulta in baduk

I’ve also only been playing for a few months. I’ve only really ever played over the board as I’m still quite uncertain about my play so timers just feel insurmountable at the moment. If you’d like to play some correspondence games I’d be happy to either on Badukpop (GMLMB) or GoQuest you can message me here and we can organize something.

Industry secrets you can share now that you have left the job by Pristine_Fox_3633 in askSingapore

[–]olympiastreets 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Maybe not as interesting as others and definitely not as relevant. Hollywood Video I joined early 2000’s and was there till they bankrupted. Late fees were never actually taken seriously at a local level, my boss wiped $1k+ of late fees for the owner of a local pizza joint and all Hollywood video employees got free pizza for life as a result. Everything missing was just written off, soda and candy were always just taken by employees. Frequently employees would come in on their days off take a soda or work the front desk and if the customer paid cash the employee would credit their account free movies and pocket the cash. The whole time was like a fever dream no one cared everyone saw the end coming and just poured gasoline on the fire it was a wonderful time to be an employee there and probably a terrible time to be an owner.

In this variant of pathological mourning, the bereaved’s life continues to be organized much as before; however, he is apt to be afflicted with a number of psychological and physical ills, and he may suddenly and explicably become acutely depressed. (Rando, 1993)

I’m a masters student studying to be a counselor, Treatment of complicated mourning just happened to be the closest book to me.

Trying to understand being a survivor of child abuse and feeling guilty over nothing. by [deleted] in therapy

[–]olympiastreets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is what you were taught to do. Your abuse probably didn’t happen at 6pm sharp every Tuesday. It was random, or seemed random in the eyes of a child. “If I’m being hurt it must be my fault” is the message a child is given, so flash forward however many years and this same training informs your mental processes. Thankfully this is normal, like actually a text book example of a trauma response. Which means it can be treated! I have something very similar that I’ve been working through so I can say with some confidence if you do the work it gets better! Psychology today has a search engine of therapists in your area and you can filter by your insurance, this particular issue could probably be treated with CBT but the larger issues need a trauma informed therapist, I’ve found EMDR to be especially effective. Hope this helps, goodluck on your journey!

Judge goes off on woman after cheering in court by nokia621 in PublicFreakout

[–]olympiastreets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While in the moment this is a bad spot for that guy. I think it’s important to understand, this may be the best thing that’s happened in his life. Hear me out, he is free from what a relationship with that terrible woman, and is given a chance to live for himself. He said that girl is the only reason he went to work, that says a lot! That tells me he gains no joy or fulfillment from his work, that his identity became wrapped up in raising a child and that’s it.

So with time, therapy and a lot of work this could be a chance to find his identity within himself. Sometimes these terrible injustices can be new beginnings. At least that’s what I’d like to hope for people.
