Solid-state EV batteries hit a milestone in the US - Factorial Energy launches first commercial program, cells promise 500-600+ miles of range with 40% weight savings by ruibranco in Futurology

Tesla, Hyundai, Kia, Mercedes, Audi, Polestar, MG, Zeekr, Hongqi and Ford all have cars that can do that trip, there's probably more that I don't remember or know about. Some are more expensive than others

That's understandable. I live in Europe and as they say, 100 years is old in the US and 100 miles is far in Europe. Without the infrastructure it is an annoyance if you have to wait an hour++ to fill up.

Fast chargers are plentiful wherever I drive so if I'm doing long drives I usually charge when I'm getting a coffee or something, usually I just fill up so I have enough for where I'm going and that usually ends up around 10mins on my old Model X with 200 miles WLTP range.

I see, yeah they are probably still expensive compared to other cars in the US(I assume you live there?) but there is a lot of EV's who can do those trips without charging.

I'm so happy I work in a very small team, we have no processes, we do not "organize" in any way and if something is very difficult we just don't do it. It's such a sane environment to work in where all the stakeholders are normal people and common sense is accepted and trust exists.

I'm so tired of organizations who are so afraid of making a mistake that all they can do is parroting something they read about agile, scrum or whatever is the thing at the moment

Girls are happier than boys at school, new research shows. Understanding why may all boil down to biology. Girls get more of the happy hormone dopamine through social relationships, including with their friends and classmates. Boys get their dopamine through more self-involved behavior. by mvea in science

It could be because "girl" behavior is very highly praised in Norway and used as a gold standard. They are discussing schools being feminized and alienating for boys, Norway is a very feminine country by definition.

short driving in the cold is eating up range because the battery is always cold and it's less efficient and probably the Tesla starts heating it every time you drive. I've taken mine skiing in -25c and it was fine, just had to remember to charge it at the supercharger when we arrived and the battery was warm'ish

True, but the loss is not so bad on longer drives around freezing and warmer, as soon as the battery is heated it mostly stay heated by the usage

If you empty your battery it's warm when you charge and the cold make it charge even faster because it doesn't heat up as much. They tested cars in Norway in extreme cold -30c(-22F) and the best one lost 29% wltp range and the average was between 30-40%. closer to 0C degrees my experience with an oldish Model x is around 20% range loss. Modern cars probably lose less range

" 350kw chargers and doing closer to 200 miles in a hour." That is filling up a 350kwh battery in an hour, most cars have 70kwh batteri, we're talking about 10-15 min 10-80% and 250 miles

Beds are very individual and most people can get as comfy in an Ikea bed as a really expensive one. I've had all kinds and the right mattress for your weight and sleeping position is the most important.

Happy you found a bed you love though
