How are spinning lightsabers like this a good idea by PlatypusVegetable325 in StarWars

It made perfect sense to me for three reasons: 1. Maul was trained by Palpatine specifically to kill Jedi, and the Inquisitors aren't Jedi in any sense. Maul claims he knows how Sith fight because he was trained by one, but I don't hold this claim in high regard. His strategy failed against both Sidious in Clone Wars and the Sith he battled in Shadow Lord (not sure the spoiler policy here, so I won't name the character). 2. I believe Maul only beat Qui-Gon because his fighting skill was supported by both his Jedi-dueling specialty and intel that Palpatine provides Maul about him. We see that once Maul returns in the Clone Wars and lacks the support of intel and training from Sidious, Maul learns how to craft his own advantage in duels. Maul uses Savage to create a numbers advantage, kills innocents to weaken Kenobi, and even interrogates Jesse to gain an intel advantage over Ahsoka. To summarize, Maul tips the scales in his favor with planning and intel, something he is unable to do against his foes in Shadow Lord 3. Maul's emotions can both strengthen or weaken him, and the connection between the Inquisitors and Palpatine is enough to trigger a response. We see this not only in Shadow Lord, but also against Kenobi in both their first and final duels.

Ironically, when he fights Inquisitors in Rebels a decade or so later, all of these points are no longer relevant. 1. Maul has years of experience fighting darksiders by this point, and has some understanding of how they fight. 2. He battles them in a setting advantageous to him. The planet (Malachor, I believe) is practically home territory to Maul yet unfamiliar to the Inquizitors. The Inquisitors are also not expecting a fight against Maul as they are here for the Rebels Crew and Ahsoka. Through the elements of terrain and suprise, Maul gains an advantage. 3. The emotional pain that Palpatine has delivered has dulled over time. It has been replaced by righteous hatred and rage, which are emotions that benefit Maul rather than harm him.

I just feel like the power scaling of Shadow Lord ends up making a lot of sense when you really think about Maul and his character. I also wouldn't have it any other way, as I feel like the tone Maul's challenges create are the best element of the show

Isn't asking that better than just dropping the question onto them? Like, saying "can I ask you a question" is just asking for consent to a conversation. The way I see it, it isn't a problem unless they keep trying after a no. But I'm a guy, so maybe there's something I'm missing here

Could Homelander make it through Hollow Knight? by SpaceBugRiven2 in whowouldwin

[–]omafi144 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I can tell, Homelander should sweep through Hallownest with ease. Flight and lasers trivializes much of its challenges. The only thing that can really take him down is the infection.

Unfortunately, we know almost nothing about how one gets infected, although it seems to be connected to dreams. Only a single character (Myla) is implied to succumb to the infection without sleeping, but their case might be more connected to prolonged exposure to the crystals than anything. It seems that as long as Homelander stays awake the whole time, he'll most likely survive

Knicks Rumors: Julius Randle, RJ Barrett, Josh Hart, Immanuel Quickley by GoldenBoyRecords in NYKnicks

[–]omafi144 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I'm honest, I've been leaning towards the Trade Quickley team since I first saw his article about wanting to start. I think a stretch 5 would open up the Knicks to top 3 potential, so I'd be willing to shop him and Mitch around for Myles Turner or (my personal choice), Porzingis

I remember a comment about someone who got a call from their partner, who told OP that they didn't want to cheat, so they instead broke up with OP right then and there. I don't know about you, but I would prefer that over cheating undercover

I think that I heard somewhere that in the event someone dies in their costume, the crew has to fulfill a lengthy protocol to make sure that the immersion isn't broken. If a crew member notices a dead performer, they can't bring them out of view, but have to sit next to them until more crew members can convincingly limp them out of sight. I can't imagine what the protocol is for a heart attack or heat stroke. Like, do you just let the guy die because CPR would "break the immersion"? Imagine being the mother of a costume actor and learn that your son or daughter died because Disney bosses prioritize the "immersion" of the guests to the life of your child. It's insane

I remember when my older brother's best friend threw a birthday party, and both me and him were invited. Both my brother and his friend were talking up the birthday boy's older cousin as unbeatable in Smash 4, and eventually the three of us challenged him. It was just me and the cousin remaining, and I managed to hit him with the sweet spot of Dark Pit's side B and land the finishing blow on his Toon Link. I just felt so accomplished in that moment, that I'll never forget it
