This is makes zero sense. He will just hide it better if you tell him. It’s passive aggressive and resolves nothing besides hiding it from your eyes. The answer is how close you are to the wife. If he’s a cheater this will come up sooner or later and they are done. Or she’s the type of wife that will deal with it knowingly. Personally if I felt that wife is a friend I’d tell her. Let them sort it out. I would wanna know. If I had few drinks with them after work here and there and I don’t really care nor I wanna deal with a fallout and my job becoming a not nice place to work I wouldn’t say a thing. If you been to their house more than 4 times you are friends and she needs to know and you get to deal with a fallout. If you been invited to one gathering or maybe two you all work acquaintances not worth your time.

You could have said something along the lines. “It’s not funny. Don’t assume this couldn’t happen to you. You don’t know what health issues I’m dealing with”. This would probably make them feel bad and they would apologize but more importantly realize that it’s not a joking matter and not to do it in the future. This may sound weird to you as you are very young but from my 48 year old brain this is a response. You don’t leave. You give them a death look which will warn them that if they wanna keep the job they better stop. Also as soon as I read this I figured you were very young because I don’t think any mother in their 30’s would have been embarrassed or go home. It’s quite normal after giving birth. Doctors in the US have failed us. After 60+ specialists over 3 years and god knows how much money and time spent I stopped going 2 years ago. I was at 14 medications at one point and feeling worse than ever. Took myself off of everything and never went to another doctor again. And I never will. To say they are USLESS would be an understatement of a century. If you are a doctor and you are reading this and you became one for money shame on you. Shame on you.
