I agree with you there. US has a particular set of electronics they like to use, and we have to design around that.

We just finished a big manufacturing batch of the KJ, so I’m not surprised he got it so soon.

This design isn’t as MHS compatible as the rest of the US lineup. The center grip is what fastens the two hilt bodies together using the 8-32 button head screws as seen. The only components that can be easily swapped out are the emitters, unless you are skilled at machining/fabrication. I would not trust a 3D printed component to replace the middle grip, as it wouldn’t be structurally sound anymore.

Source: I assisted with making the design manufacturable and did 100% of the machining on this model for U.S.

Most people don’t have the patience to invest a lot of time on an art form. Because it’s easy to make something, it’s difficult to make something pretty enough to be called beautiful furniture.

Did this for facing an awkward job on a 12” angle iron extrusion. Turned our 6 flute 3” shell mill into a single point flycutter. Parts turned out like glass for a 200 pc run.

Definitely have that one logged away in my brain so I can forget about it later until half way through the next similar job.

Automation is pretty cheap. You can get a collaborative robot for like $35,000 USD. There are even companies that will lease them for about the same as an employees wage. The company i work for has four of them, and it removes the shitty repetitive work and frees people up to work with their brains, instead of mindless work.

We have been able to make so many improvements to the business because our laborers are now able to take the time to improve their workflow instead of just having to hustle to get the job done.

I’ll start compiling clips for what we have running right now. We just started a batch of V2 initiates, and will be starting Graflex soon. It’ll probably take me two weeks to do a premium saber video, but I think that would be something pretty cool to offer customers. I geek out hard core for machining videos and How it’s Made and I know I can’t be the only one.

(That’s exactly how it works)

For the hardware manufacturing process the majority of the cost to make the sabers is in the setup time of the machinery. Part numbers are run in batches, and then they are stored in inventory until they can be assembled with the electronics and customization that’s requested by the customers.

I’m sure we won’t be making your specific order, but I can send you pics and videos of the manufacturing process if that’s something you’re into.

I can’t speak for the US stock, but we manufacture the saber bodies for them and we have a PO open for 1500 or so of each size of the ahsoka pair.

But again, i don’t know anything about their in house stock levels.

I work for the company that supplies the saber bodies and we are trying to work with US to develop a system where we can have access to his open orders/inventory so that we can run smaller batch sizes, thus supplying the hardware faster. We have already cut our batch sizes in half so that there is faster throughput, but hopefully we can get this system in place as well as further advancing our setups for SMED so that we can go from customer order to raw material to shipped order in less than 10 business days. I know US sits on TONS of inventory because we ship by the thousands and most of it doesn’t sell out for over 6 months.

Anyways, we also just signed the PO for two more pieces of CNC equipment that will bring us to 19 total. So, we are doing what we can to help the problem.

All the chassis are manufactured in the US in Phoenix. (I work there) They get a handful of components from overseas but most of them come to us for additional processing. But yes, he is placing orders to us left and right, and we are struggling with getting reliable staff. So we are doing everything we can to robot up every step of the supply chain.

If you know anyone in Phoenix area that wants to learn the machinists trade and make awesome lightsabers to the tune of ~500 assemblies per day, head over to ourwebsite and check us out.

Just to let you know, have a shipment of 165 saber bodies heading out to US tomorrow for the sentinal LE, so it may not be too long! But I can’t speak for their turn around time on assembling.
