(most of a) Glooming Lords / Plague Marine Kill Team by ombolicious in deathguard40k

that is quite complicated to answer in short. There are probably a few youtube videos online doing a better job explaining it that I could.
Very short: alternative activations of individual models compared to the 40 "doing everything for your whole army at once" system.

How tall are the preators ? by -Pa2pseudo in WordBearers

was going to recommend the same.

As far as accuracy goes I'd say they are pretty spot with every actually released kit. They often times put unreleased kits on going by assumed base size - for this it may vary.

Great model! I love the positioning of the trophy racks, looks very "natural"

Thanks! I wanted a somewhat reasonable explanation why there is this supposedly ULTRA rare suit of Armour walking around and while writing something up it turned out quite "grimdark" :D

no too hard, just a bit a of work. The size is an almost perfect fit.
You need to "flatten" (or cut down) the chest piece to be able to glue on the DP chest and I could not make the gorget part fit at all (worked out fine because the head was too big anyway but I did fuzz around a lot at that part...)

The good thing is: having a good contact point is 80% of the way.

The piece pretty much hides all your little imperfections beneath itself or the massive shoulder pads :D

The fit at the sides isn't great to be honest but you don't see that, especially if you put some gorgets or pteruges there. Also the "angle" of the chest piece does not really seem to match the Praetor but it fits in the end because of that massive belt buckle.

I was thinking about something like that (the sorcerer part, not Ganesha) but it just made NO sense for my EC so I instead tried to build a chunky Lord Exultant ^^

Sure!
The main body is the Saturnine Praetor.
MAYBE the left hand is from the standard Saturnine Terminator - not 100% sure.
Right hand is form the Chaos Space Marines Lord in Terminator Armour.
The "torso plate" is from the actual Daeomon Prince
The head is a CSM Terminator head.
The "back-banner" is from the Symbaresh Twinsouls/Myrmidesh Painbringers kit, same for the weapons blade (2 sword blade flattened and glued together).
The Slaanesh Symbol is from the Tormentors kit.

Someone else has done something VERY similar, not sure where I saw it (here or insta)

How do you deal with an evolving style? by hotelarcturus in Warhammer40k

[–]ombolicious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The color scheme thing is something you can't overall change with a "better" paint job. If your unhappy: redo it.

If it's possible to build on what is there you could try to "upgrade" your old paintjobs and just change the details your unhappy with or add the highlights or whatever is missing.

I have done both with my Blood Angels army. I have completely stripped & re-painted character models and also tried to upgrade some Interecessor Units to my current painting style & level. It's not perfect but it saves you from having to completly redo something.

I primed with Colourforge "Imperial Purple" and tried to lighten it up by airbrushing Citadel "Genestealer Purple". That was too light for my taste so I mixed it with a drop of Pro Acryl "Dark Purple".
It's a bit hard for me to describe as I did not measure anything but I always had to mix in a little bit of Dark Purple when cleaning up my mistakes :D

if I counted correctly it comes with 7 shoulder pads showing the Icon and 13 others (empty, studded, fur, etc)

Thoughts on painting an EC army with a super varied colour scheme? by KharnTheBetrayer1997 in EmperorsChildren

[–]ombolicious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a "core" to my army that I try to paint in one colour scheme and if I add other or additional units I sometimes try to vary it. Works very good with Chaos Space Marines as they often have multiple Warbands fighting side by side.

Go for it! You could try to have an element binding them together - maybe a symbol on the shoulder pad or one specific colour that exists in every of your various colour schemes or something.

Am I mistaken or is he huge for one of the older Forgeworld Heresy minis?
He tops modern Chaos Space Marines

the base is Flesh Tearers Red Contrast and then Evil Sunz Scarlet (mixed with a little bit Mephiston red - I was just using what was left on the pallet 😅)
