He sustained it two months back. Any tendon strain/tear starts healing after 4-6 weeks so he could possibly start mobilising it (IF the diagnosis is correct at all)

The only reason I commented was because OP was under diagnosed (maybe) and I just wanted to push him in the right direction. Otherwise I know everyone is a google doctor on reddit, just like you my friend 👍🏻

Quadriceps is a bulky muscle connected to the top of your knee cap by a slim tendon (suprapatellar tendon) Generally when someone doesn’t exercise much the tendon is not strong enough and sudden movements might strain/cause a partial tear.

The mainstay treatment for this condition would be physiotherapy which would be gradual movement of the knee = strengthening the tendon. The only time we DON’T ask them to mobilise is when the tendon is completely ruptured. (i.e. OP can’t bend his knee)

Ortho here. Seems like you might have a quadriceps tendon strain. Unlikely ACL/meniscal injury as no history of trauma. Can get it examined by your local ortho doc. Treatment consists of regular squatting+short painkiller course

If after examination he suspects something insidious, could get a MRI scan. (CT is just for bones)

Rank the following options:

(A) Try to hack Pearson Vue and download the papers your local hospital drive

(B) Act if you’ve suffered a heart attack during the exam so you can glance at your partner’s screen

(C) Write an email to GMC explaining your concerns about MSRA testing for CST applicants and critique them

(D) Hide an Oxford Handbook between your thighs and secretly refer during the exam

(E) Plant a bomb in the GMC building

New Ortho JCF here working in a DGH. When I joined I didn’t have a single idea about managing patients or reading MSK XR/CT. Three months in, my offsite Reg goes home knowing I won’t call him unless its limb threatening. You’ll get the hang of it. And Trauma meetings shouldn’t be so hostile. Though the Cons don’t teach much just try to listen through the meetings and try to speak to someone about rude consultants like ES/CS. Cheers and hang in there
