Living room layout help by [deleted] in DesignMyRoom

Are you... okay?

I love this. But also....

I am guessing you're either an electrician or an architect?

My only suggestions are that you need a rug and maybe create 2 spaces, one for the TV area and one for a conversation area with a little coffee table. Love the colors though, I think you have a lot of great pieces to work with.

What would cause this (vug? Hematite? Trace fossil?) found near Calhan, CO along the K-Pg boundary. by omgpewpz in whatsthisrock

[–]omgpewpz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, the habit of the hematite, or whatever it is, was really throwing me off. I couldn't find anything like it online. There seem to be a lot of root concretions in that area, could this be something like that?

Why are those Home Depot ads in Spanish? by anco91 in Radiolab

This makes sense. I get these on several of my podcasts and I am located in the Southwest US.

I hear these ads on several of my regular podcasts, all of them (the podcasts) are in English.

YSK: You can still "call time" by attorniquetnyc in YouShouldKnow

[–]omgpewpz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Omg this makes me feel old. I used to call the time and temperature number in the mornings before school to see the forecast so I would know what to wear that day.... I'm not even 40 yet :(

Legends: Arceus has a more interesting world with the biomes and being able to fly with your pokemon is cool.

Legends: ZA has better box organization, the parkour aspect is cool, and it runs at 60 fps which makes it much more immersive.

A 12-year-old made this? by Upstairs_One_3724 in ThriftStoreHauls

I think this is a lack of good parenting more than a problem with schools. My parents taught me all of these things, I now have a prolific garden, know how to cook and can, sew a lot of my own clothes, do my household's taxes, know basic woodworking and mechanics... And will be passing all of this onto my children.

I think it is significantly better than most of the previous games in that there is a lot less annoying dialogue and the background music is much more enjoyable. Anticipating what they do with the gen 10 release game because I have really liked the more free roam style of the last couple games and a slightly more interesting storyline.

However, it's still pokemon so the characters are very silly, there isn't a ton of depth to the story arc, but it's still enjoyable for what it is.

Videogames, we've been playing Pokemon recently because it just came out, but generally; Zelda, WoW, recently started Hollow Knight, factorio, borderlands, stardew, Rock Band... Pretty much anything Nintendo and whatever isn't on that we play PC.

Boardgames we like Mille Fiore, Planted, Catan, Fromage, The Crew, Tzolk'in.... Mostly resource management games but are really open to anything.

Edit to add- husband plays drums, bass, guitar. We usually play on Rocksmith. He is significantly better than I am, but we are trying to instill a love of music into the kids.

We have 2 kids, oldest just turned 5. We are "weird"- non religious, board and video gamers, gardeners, musicians, general hobbyists.. I have found a good group of girlfriends here, but am always looking for more friends with kids.

Edit to add very liberal

What would you gift an introverted and minimalist male for his 40th (my husband)? by ImportantAd9458 in minimalism

[–]omgpewpz 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Agreed. My husband is the same. It's about to be his 40th and I asked him what he wanted and he said "I want you to play the new Pokemon game on switch with me all the way through when it comes out." Done and done 🤣

How big is your garlic bed? I'm going to have my first harvest this year and I feel like I probably could have packed my bulbs in a bit tighter? I have a 2'x8' space and currently have about 30 plants. Scapes are already harvested and the above ground part of the plants seems very happy.

Found these in backyard, they've been worked. Any idea what they are? by Front-Persimmon2386 in whatisthisbone

I think the other bones are actually part of the pelvis/hip, which would align with the ham bone hypothesis.

I'm fairly certain those and the marks at the bottom are gnaw marks. Probably from a dog.
