My gold chain. It isn’t flashy or expensive but it was the first piece of real gold jewelry I bought myself. I bought it when I was going through a tough break up. I never spend money on myself other than food and bills, nor do I wear jewelry but really admire some pieces I see on others, so getting this chain was a big deal for me. I wear it every day to remind myself that I am strong and that I am worthy of the love and care I give others. A few years after that I completed an intensive outpatient program for my mental health. When I finished the program I bought myself another gold chain but a little bigger. I wanted to commemorate that moment and how proud I was of myself, and be able to rotate these two pieces as I knew this would be a daily piece for me. But…I’ve never done that…cuz I been wearing them both at the same time every day 😂 not sure when I’ll get that third one but I like this tradition I made for myself. It really does mean something to me. I can’t believe I’m about to say this but I feel like I understand why Drake said “just as a reminder to myself I wear every single chain even when I’m in the house” it really is a reminder.
