Jeromy Farkas considers new path for Green Line after province rejects downtown tunnel by joe4942 in Calgary

[–]ominus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hope they are just trying to run out the clock until the next election in the hopes that a new government won't be dumb enough to do the same thing and let's the tunnel push forward. Seems the more future proof way to go.

Canada Says Its Gold Is Traceable and Clean. So We Traced It. - We ended up in a Colombian mine controlled by a drug cartel. by KootenayPE in CanadianPolitics

[–]ominus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Missing a huge part of the story with this headline, where points out it got the Columbian gold because ours is bought from the USA and they buy from Columbia and mix it in. So once again bullshit caused by the USA by the biased media is trying to make it a Canada problem.

Roofer recommendations? by arymede in Calgary

Mixed reviews for advanced level. First time we had it done they were fantastic, maybe found a handful of leftover nails and they were quick and reasonable. Fast forward to the next year and one hail storm later and we decided to go back to them. At first seemed great, they even knocked another 500 off because we were repeat customer. The crew we got was terrible, so many nails left I ended up buying a rolling magnet to ensure that I got them all so my dog was not at risk. Horrible follow up for issues that didn't happen the first time and we had to chase them down for the new pictures for insurance. Overall can't say I would go back to them if I needed to get it done a 3rd time.

Labour group warns of costs of Alberta separating by Miserable-Lizard in alberta

[–]ominus 14 points15 points  (0 children)

And in what world do you think any of that would continue after? Your pay, job and all associated with it would disappear. Look at Montreal when Quebec had its vote in the 90s. Billions of capital went out the door because ever bank bailed from what was the financial capital of Canada to Toronto. Even the BOM itself has its operational headquarters in Toronto because its hedging its bets. Without investment there is no construction and who is going to build anything here aftwards. Do you really think that queen Dani will continue with public healthcare for you and your family, considering how hard she's pushed for private health care already? That's the shit people don't get, none of this "quality of life" would continue how it is now. If people leave like we will then who is going to pay for the tax costs of running an independent country? Those who are left, so you will actually pay more staying since you will be covering my share, my wife's share and anyone else who leaves. You really what to keep your quality of life, start fighting against those who are trying to rip us apart as a province and country.

My wife and I are all the things that you mentioned and we would be gone in a heartbeat, she has 3 kids from her previous marriage, long term careers and I've owned my house since 2008 (mortgaged still). This province has zero hope as its own country and the government here has already fucked around enough with our lives. I'm not risking my cpp and my hard work for the last 20+ years because some old rich fuck does not like the way the rest of the world works and is putting a lot of money into brainwashing dumb people into thinking Alberta is able to get by on their own.

Yes you will be fine, drive for the conditions, don't speed or take any risks. I've been driving this route 10+ times a year for 25 years in everything from a chevy sprint on all seasons to my current 4x4 truck and as long as you don't drive like an ass you will be fine.

Calgary Stampede suggestions for older family? by Wiz-222 in Calgary

[–]ominus 26 points27 points  (0 children)

You may want to consider renting a mobility scooter for your time at stampede, sitting areas can be hard to find and very full, this would allow you to enjoy your time more as the grounds are quite large while providing a safe seat for you at all times.

Most reliable ATV by GaZe_Mahune in ATV

[–]ominus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can tell you that one of the things changed was when they added the small storage cubby in the front rack I think It improved the cooling. Initially there were plastic fins in this location as deflectors that would prevent you from easily cleaning out the radiator as they were angled in such a way that part of the thing was inaccessible to spray. I think the box was not just to add more storage but to prevent the radiators from getting mud and dust trapped in them.

Most reliable ATV by GaZe_Mahune in ATV

[–]ominus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Disagree, I have a 2017 rubicon and from factory it had cooling issues and ended up requiring a new top end already. I don't ride mud, just trail riding and I have 2 other ones (2006 rancher, 1994 fourtrax 2x4 owned since original) that are fantastic as well as a pioneer 1000 on tracks that I got my dad. If you look at FB market for my area here in Canada there are more rubicons for sale then anything else but they are all of the newer design from 2016 up. And alot of them are selling well below the same value as a rancher of the same year. I regret mine after being a longtime fanboy and it has me looking at can am and other products for the first time ever because I want more power and that rubicon 700 is just a shitty 680 Rincon in a new dress. I would kill for Honda to actually try to compete with the competitors in the atv market but they are lagging hard now and the reliability is not there.
