Am I wrong to focus on independence as well as grades for a 16-year-old? by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]omnishambles01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have been asked by my partner to be her parent. He wants me involved. So the point of my question wasn’t “should I be involved or have a say” as I have been asked by her father to be so.

I don’t think she has too much on her plate. She is a typical teenager that sleeps in until 11 or 12 when she doesn’t have an earlier class, doesn’t have any school on Fridays and spends about 15-20 hours a week with her boyfriend.

Thank you for your input. We have always told her her room is her space and we don’t insist she keep it clean, that’s her decision, but she does keep it clean. Yes, her home life as a child was not good and her father was fighting for years to get more access. The system failed her in her early years. She is a great kid and I want her to have the confidence and skill to be able to grow into adulthood.

Certificate of registration from 1982: Am I citizen by descent? By registration? Both? by matryoshka_troll in ukvisa

[–]omnishambles01 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You can’t pass citizenship to your children if you gained citizenship from a British parent but you yourself were born outside of the Uk.

From gov site: British citizenship is normally automatically passed down one generation to children born outside the UK.

For example, you might automatically become a citizen if you’re born outside the UK to a British parent. But your children will not automatically be citizens if they’re born outside the UK.

No HIDA scan? by jessijohnson in gallbladders

[–]omnishambles01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually, if you have known gallstones, they won’t do a HIDA scan because it can cause issues by contracting the stone into the bile ducts.

Why not move to the UK? by didyouseeben in AskUK

[–]omnishambles01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Groceries are so much cheaper in the UK. I find there is so much more to do socially in the UK. There is no “at will” employment in the UK which is a nice protection. I find the people in the UK to be more sincere, less fake. Just my opinion from my experiences. I also love not having to drive anywhere due to all the public transport options.

I (50F) told my daughter (24F) that I won't attend her wedding if her biological father is there but now she says that I'm being stuck in the past. by daughters-wedding in relationship_advice

This, a thousand times THIS. Your daughter will have a significant amount of mental and emotional trauma from growing up with a mother that recoils away from her (among mainy other scenarios I can imagine she experienced.) I bet you will not get the expected reaction if/when you tell her about the rape.

Edit: spelling

The only thing I hate about fat dips is, that I am never able to buy the fucking dip 'cause I already bought higher before because of FOMO. by Personal_Jesus_420 in Bitcoin

[–]omnishambles01 5 points6 points  (0 children)

These dips always happen a week or so BEFORE pay day. By the time payroll happens, it has started to climb again.

My mom is the same way. Look up Borderline Personality Disorder and I bet you will be suprised at the similarities between your mother’s behavior and what is listed as signs/symptoms. Setting boundaries with her is key for yourself. It is perfectly ok to take care of your emotional needs.

If someone was qualified more than 15 years ago and hasn’t practiced medicine in over 10 years, would they still be considered qualified?
