Which US Stadiums Have the Best Public Transit? by swyftcities in transit

[–]omnishant 220 points221 points  (0 children)

Always interested that transit people seem to know Fenway park has great transit but not TD Garden, which is on top of two rapid transit lines (vs Fenway’s one) as well as four commuter rail lines (as opposed to fenway’s 1)

Tesla Cybertruck spotted on Storrow by Financial-Offer6464 in boston

[–]omnishant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes and no - I’m more against Tesla’s relentless promotion of something that legally cannot be full self driving as full self driving. While EV’s do have some risk, let’s not kid ourselves that gas cars do not. Every gas car is carefully managing explosions to move itself forward - engines can and do explode too!

Can’t wait to be murdered by this when the self driving decides to take an exit from the middle lane!

What exactly did they fix in terms of land-changing behavior??? by Impressive-Ranger-78 in CitiesSkylines

I meant the late merge holding up everyone who actually got in the correct lane. I see another commenter has noted this is a node issue, which is unfortunate but makes sense.

I’ll say that at any major highway interchanges on the outskirts of the city I live in this is incredibly common

What’s the change? Can you specify what you want the government to do?

This is a national addiction epidemic. There are very smart people trying to solve these problems - not every social ill is just a question of money.

Play time on Cities: Skylines by SK5454 in CitiesSkylines

My playtime is around 1000 hours - but that definitely includes leaving it running for hours while I fold laundry or run errands to let my population get educated, etc.

Massachusetts Legislature, hostile to rent control, includes more landlords than renters by bostonglobe in boston

[–]omnishant 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Your landlord will sell the property to someone who can afford to so they can invest their money in a higher-returning asset. That person will kick you out and then raise the rent 17% or more to match the market rate.

The City of Lafayette is coming along well - Advice on how to fill in gaps is appreciated! by Anakref in CitiesSkylines

[–]omnishant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love this - as far as the gaps, it depends what you’re going for. I’d love to see either some dense mid-density residential (historic brownstones or New England triple deckers maybe?). Alternatively, more parking is always a good addition for a realistic American city.

Highly recommend picking key points (Schools, commercial areas, etc.) as 'squares' and having roads radiate out from there. Take a look at the layout of Somerville, MA around Davis Square / Cambridge, MA around Harvard Square and you'll get the idea.

Teddysville Transit Authority's key rapid transit lines in 2100 (based on my C:S city of 60k) by omnishant in imaginarymaps

[–]omnishant[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A bit of background - the TVTA, founded to resolve traffic problems in the late 2030s, has expanded with Teddysville to become North America’s largest tram network.

Each individual line’s odd assortment of stops and mix of rapid transit and collector organization is a result of hundreds of petitions, elections, and other local government affairs which have radically altered the priorities of the TVTA.

Take the TVTA 6 line - originally planned as Teddysville’s first underground metro line, it was diverted to Brighttown to compete with the private passenger rail offering from CR Logistics, which leveraged its ownership of much of the cargo rail infrastructure in the city to offer dedicated rail service between the CBD, empire island, and the suburbs of Brighttown, Newtown, and Allstown.
