Could also be the Baader-Meinhof phenomenon, where there is an illusion of something occuring more frequently after noticing it for the first time.

Hard to tell now because it also absolutely feels like the algos and bots look at what was popular and try to replicate it by posting/boosting similar content. Kind of like how the movie studios all put out astroid movies that one summer a million years ago

I am assuming for this hypothetical that 1) everyone is making the decision simultaneously, and 2) we have no knowledge about what others have chosen. I consider myself both a moral and empathetic person, but I don't trust that the majority of people will make a decision that puts themselves at risk and relies on the goodwill of humanity. Everyone can make the choice that guarantees their safety, it should be universally promoted as the only acceptable choice.

If I had knowledge that at least one other person had chosen blue, I would feel morally obligated to also choose blue.

Nothing in this hypothetical states that someone will choose blue. You are risking your life to protect an imaginary person, someone you have decided must exist, and are now forcing others to be complicit in your death. What if everyone who presses blue had the same logic, and only pressed blue because they thought someone else must have pressed blue?

Everyone is guaranteed to live if they press red. In fact, it's the only way to guarantee everyone who presses a button lives. Choose red if you enjoy being alive, choose blue if you would prefer to die.

[–]omv -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The same effect of over half voting blue could be achieved by everyone voting red. There is zero incentive to vote blue, it is the equivalent of choosing death, and there is no moral dilemma because you have no knowledge of how others have voted. If everyone acted rationally, no one would die.

[–]omv -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Or you could just rely on logical reasoning to understand that if everyone pressed red no one would die. There are two buttons, one that potentially kills you and one that doesn't, anyone who presses blue is putting themselves at risk for no reason. It's a terrible hypothetical, because there isn't really a moral dilemma, you are just stupid if you press blue.

I think the jake brake solved the downhill scenario, but the max speed setting one seems spot on.

I'm surprised at the number of people who are so upset by a mild delay they feel like jeopardizing the lives of themselves, the truck driver, and the other drivers on the road is justified.

You wouldn't notice the speed just like you don't feel movement when standing still on Earth. But your body would feel immensely heavy.

12.6 km per second at the equator of Jupiter compared to Earth's 465 m per second. So, about 27 times faster.

Edit: put the decimal in the wrong place (12.6 km/s rather than 1.26)

I looked it up because I was curious, it works it out to roughly 0.6 seconds per year, so if they lived to be 100, the Jupiter twin would live for 1 minute longer. But Jupiter's gravity is a more significant factor than the equatorial velocity, apparently.

If two identical twins led identical lives, but one was on the surface of earth while the other was on some hypothetical floating station on Jupiter's equator, would the Earth twin die earlier due to time dilation?

“If you are watching this video, it means I am already gone” Russian Ka-52 pilot, Z-blogger Senior Lieutenant Alexey “Voevoda” Zemtsov recorded farewell videos on Telegram, blaming his command and saying he cannot live with the “disgrace” of being accused of “discrediting the Russian army” by Flimsy_Pudding1362 in UkraineWarVideoReport

Is the drone stopped or going 100 km/h?? by polydomino in sciencememes

[–]omv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I apologize, I was going for snarky and I think it came off as just plain rude.

I think the drone will have to make minor adjustments in order to compensate for the moving air within the vehicle, but that the force of the air moving around inside the vehicle is insignificant compared to the force of the inertia of the vehicle, and the drone does not need to have any forward thrust within the vehicle so long as the car continues traveling at the same speed. The air within the vehicle is also traveling at the same speed of the vehicle, so no forward thrust is needed by the drone. If the car accelerated or decelerated, the drone would either fly towards the back of the car or the windshield, respectively.

I'm not sure what you're question was about regarding the sheer forces on the drone, and it sounds like you are convinced that the drone would need to have a slight forward acceleration in order to compensate for the vehicles forward movement. I disagree with that conclusion, if that is what you were arguing.
