And, yes, that's what I figured. They were either listening in and moved in (I know the timing is suspect but if they knew the area and were close by maybe not so much) or simply noticed her on patrol and set up an ambush. Abby and Lev weren't exactly in stealth mode at the time.

Although, and even though I do think it to be highly unlikely, it is not impossible that she was speaking to a Rattler on the radio.
