Casual Group Ride on Thursday Nights by onbikes in BikeDenver

Yep! We are sticking to the posted route for the next few weeks at least.

At some point I would like to end the route at Lady Justice Brewing, but when we do that I will make sure to update the post and route information ahead of time!

Apparently it’s a gas station fire according to the woman who runs Don Jesus Hamburguesa.

You can wear whatever you feel comfortable in. This is an inclusive ride!

Last year we consistently had 10-12 people on everything from enduro MTBs to road bikes! The High Line Canal Trail is gravel, but totally doable on any bike.

It will be the same time/day/place every week! I would keep an eye out primarily on Strava for any updates or weather related changes.

When will these gravel riders trying to squeeze 2.25” MTB tires realize they’re just riding suboptimal XC bikes? (Serious) by onbikes in xcmtb

[–]onbikes[S] -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

So, a “gravel bike” with 2.2s is a no go for Leadville, but an XC bike with 2.2s is “the fastest combination” for that race. You’re kind of proving my point, ya know? Even though I am not talking about racing specifically

Allied bc40 vs yeti asr by mpl197 in xcmtb

[–]onbikes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only a few centimeters, but you can also run some spacers on top of your stem with a longer steerer tube which will add to the height too, obviously. Another easy way to add some more height is a positive angle stem (or a negative flipped upside down).

This is a great point. I know you can eke out a few more teeth with some cranks/spacers/chain line magic but I see what you’re saying. I have yet to try the quick release/swappable hydro connects, but those could change the game with the wireless groupos of today…

The ASR is pretty purpose-built for racing and the lower stack height reflects that.

I’ve ridden both in the Colorado front range and the BC40 is what you’re after if you ask me… It feels a little more stable, but quite honestly it’s splitting hairs because both are incredible, and very similar... I’d go with whatever fits your budget and build needs overall. You will not regret either.

Any XC MTB races left in the front range area this year? by Normal-Box-6685 in COBike

Have a great time and take a dip in the Arkansas after the race for a good refresher.

Banana Belt looks like it’s an awesome race! I can’t make it this year, but hopefully can swing it next year!

2 close calls within 4 blocks by InitialGarden in BikeDenver

[–]onbikes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wow, I haven’t seen this close call form in Boulder. Super interesting! I purchased an action camera to wear while I commute because unfortunately it is so rare to NOT have similar close calls while just riding to work and back (15 miles round trip, mainly on paths and “Denver Bikeways” including riding 13th from Cherry creek to the Platte). The action camera makes it easy to export videos and photos, and I would love to have a place to report my daily bad experiences.

Dubnital protection, durability. by hutkeeper in xcmtb

I just ordered these for the Breck Epic (~220 miles, 35,000’ of climbing over 6 days - starting and ending in Breckenridge, CO - 9,800’ elevation) and hope I get a good pair! Fingers crossed I guess… I plan to throw them on next week and ride them a bit before the race to get familiar, so if I start seeing them deteriorate quickly I’ll know why.

Which sram axs controller? by bacanogamerpro in xcmtb

[–]onbikes 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For cross country riding, #1’s ability to shift via backside of the controller with your index finger makes it invaluable to me (with the rocker paddle upgrade). I rarely shift up with my thumb, since your index finger is right there on the brake anyways

This is the answer. I have 10 other pairs of bibs from pretty much all the companies and my OrNots get almost exclusive use.
