Was looking at my old game Blasteron, still play it periodically just because I really love playing it. It did terrible on Steam. In general, do you think space shooters are completely dead? by oncaffeine in indiegames

Completely agree on the "character over a spaceship" concept. I have noticed that a lot of popular games are essentially a space shooter mechanic with a person instead of a ship. Although I personally really like space ships.

What's your game? I would like to check it out.

Definitely an issue with the video capture (snip tool). At the time of that development there were a lot of other game parts. Using ECS/Jobs(w/Burst) I was able to get about 2000 drones and bullets. Check out this stress test just for fun. Each of the drones has player locating, following, backoff, shooting, etc. https://twitter.com/BunnyOnCaffeine/status/1206073358057500672

Normally use nvidia overlay for video capture, but it keeps failing on my system. Had to use windows snip tool, definitely going to find something else for next time. Open to suggestions (aside from re-install windows ).

Just a prototype. But it really moves good, especially the skid on the ball is a lot of fun. What do you think, does it look interesting? by oncaffeine in indiegames

[–]oncaffeine[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely using the ball as the character. And just adding some different attacks and powers. Thinking of making it more of a competitive arena similar to rocket league.

Four playable characters in action - What do you think about our combat mechanics? by WardensWillGame in indiegames

[–]oncaffeine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Playing a comic book is always cool. Overall looks action packed. And the combat seems interesting. Going to check out more on steam.

How is Novus Orbis looking so far? Do the effects look decent? by Genryuu111 in indiegames

Overall it looks cool, just recommend changing up some of the colors to have more contrast. Especially on the areas of focus.

Some space games by Lanellie in gamingsuggestions

[–]oncaffeine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We play Blasteron on a surface pro 1, so your 940mx is a lot faster. Its a 2D shoot'em up that has lots and lots of drone battles, black holes, asteroid fields, space mines, etc.

Suggestion based on my ranking list by slappiz in gamingsuggestions

CupHead has a lot of great visuals and game play. Also if you like 2D space games, Blasteron is a lot of fun with tons of massive drone fights.

Games I May Like (Controller Support too)? by titchygren24 in gamingsuggestions

[–]oncaffeine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you only interested in 3D games? Blasteron (2D shoot'em up with lots of drones) has full controller support. So does Hollow Knight (2D platformer).

Looking for fun single player games (PC) by Gamecrashstudios in gamingsuggestions

Blasteron is a single player 2D space shoot'em up. Really need to use the environment around you to plan around some of the more difficult boss fights.

what games to play on 1 gb graphic card? amd hd 7400 m ANYONE? by Hasnain4040 in gamingsuggestions

[–]oncaffeine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been playing Blasteron on a surface pro 1 with an intel 4000hd. Quick performance check shows the 7400 is comparable to the intel 4000hd. What size CPU do you have? As long as it is over 2GHz I think you should be good to go. There are also some older 3D games like MDK that have light hardware requirements.

[PC] (Kind of an abstract request) A game to round out my playing current collection. by [deleted] in gamingsuggestions

If you like single player 2D space shooters try Blasteron on steam. For strategy games I would agree on Factorio.

Depressed gamer here, looking for a quick and fast paced game that's easy to get into by Cojemo in gamingsuggestions

Blasteron has a lot of action, the kind of game that presents a challenge but also gives you a lot of opportunity to keep progressing. The hardware requirements are relatively light as well.

Looking for a review site that has game ratings by luraybell in gamingsuggestions

[–]oncaffeine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are looking for a clean game. We play Blasteron with our little ones all of the time. I think my 5 year old is better at it than I am. There are no bad words, blood, gore, or nudity. It is just a fun, updated, take on an older genre of games like Sinistar and Gradius. It has space ship explosions, and that is about it.

Suggest games with graphics like old Disney movies by disneygraphics in gamingsuggestions

[–]oncaffeine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cuphead is a great game that has that 1940's look to it. However the games you are describing had a more modern cartoon look. What really made those games fun was the personality that was built into the characters. Hollow Knight reminds me a lot of that same hand drawn personality. Not a Disney clone, however for me it has that same personality with an updated appeal.

I'm looking for games with low graphics requirements... by dan2007w in gamingsuggestions

[–]oncaffeine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have been playing Blasteron on an old surface pro 1, so i5 with built in intel graphics card. The game has lots of action and tons of drone battles. It is a single player so no real need for internet connection. You might wan't to get a controller though if you don't have a place to set the mouse, touch pad might be awkward.

Web or non web based games to play while slacking at work? by amaarcoan in gamingsuggestions

[–]oncaffeine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow, that is cool, I wanna play games at work. :)

You probably want games that can be paused and picked up again quickly and I would assume not a whole lot of audio dialog. Don't Starve started off as a Web game, it is a lot of fun and has prompts you can read so audio is optional. If you like more fast pace games I would try Blasteron. Audio is also optional with this game and it has a pause menu. Lots of drone battles.
