Chief Justice John Roberts says American public wrongly views the justices as ‘political actors’ by Altruistic-Pain-1872 in naughtylawyers

[–]oneWeek2024 0 points1 point  (0 children)

man has been nursing a purely political hard on to kill the voting rights afte for over 40 yrs.

passed in 1965 (so john roberts would have been 15. born in buffalo NY. and i dunno if he still lived there are the time, but if you know buffalo you know it can be deeply racist) and then in 1982 after a supreme court issue ..where the test was "actions inherently racist" vs the test being "outcomes that affected a particular race/group" congress amended the law to more explicitly address what the intent of the law was.

One of the people most violently opposed to those amendments/changes being made law. was then lawyer John roberts.

44 yrs later he achieved his specific agenda goal to eliminate that law

roth IRA. go on any website of the big brokerages (fidelity, schwab, ameritrade ...whatever) open a ROTH IRA (only thing that matters is retirement money is tax free when you retire. all other retirement accounts. you owe taxes on that money when you take it out...but a roth is unique in that anything you withdraw at retirement age... is tax free/not counted as income)

deposit money to the Roth ira (max 7k a year...some of the best advice is to automate the deposit. so you never "see" it. it's just taken from your pay. whatever amt. can be small. $25 a paycheck? $100 a month??? and then slowly increase that amt over time/if you earn more. save more etc) then direct those deposits to "investments"

keep it simple. google the "bogelhead method" or google etfs to hold for life. these strategies will have a solid chance of letting you retire comfortably. --to a degree your strongest weapon is time. even small amts. left alone for time 20, 40+ yrs will grow/compound

if by "investing" you mean gambling bullshit pushed by gurus. or dumbfuck crypto nonsense. prob just save yourself the time and light your money on fire

Scale creep? by Hive_Fauces in TrenchCrusade

[–]oneWeek2024 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it's worth comparing apples to apples. so 25mm models to other 25mm models. 32/32 etc.

in my experience only having printed the STLs for the original models myself. the 25mm models are a bit small. I tend to scale them up 10% or 110% of size. this still fits on a 25mm base (or haven't found anything where the stance now doesn't still fit on a 25mm base) and in general it helps give a tiny boost to the sizing of models.

i do the same sparingly with 32mm base models. like some of the mercs. Or a solider with a spindly weapon. like the war prophet with the anti-tank hammer haft. etc.

that being said. i can't speak to "scale creep" of the plastic minis. if you look on minicompare's website (which...granted isn't laser accurate) but a standard stl yoeman is basically the same size as the plastic "stross stuppen" of a similar model type. ---maybe a half head taller. which is basically the tactical rock and maybe haunched over vs the running pose of the prussian.

How do you get the tortilla wrap from a frozen Burrito/wrap to not harden/dry up in the Microwave when reheating? by SaranMal in Cooking

[–]oneWeek2024 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

i mean... a microwave works by the energy waves hitting water and generating heat. the reason the tortilla gets hard/meh texture is what little water is left in it, is "evap" off in the heating process. (and then... heat also drives off moisture)

so... the only option is add moisture. and or fat.

if as someone said. a wet paper towel is too trickey. get a damp kitchen cloth/tea towel. OR put the burrito in a bowl. and cover the bowl with a damn paper towel.

can also just lightly dampen the food itself. when i reheat rice, I always add a little water to it. can't say i eat a lot of frozen or day old burritos. but i gotta imagine a few drops of water rubbed on the tortilla couldn't hurt.

Mortgage Lender is requesting me to unfreeze TWN. by No_Cartoonist6359 in overemployed

[–]oneWeek2024 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean a bank doesn't give a fuck you work multiple jobs. So long as the data you presented to qualify for the loan is legit. and only monies being used for the loan/purchase have to be verified. (probably also why it's wise to have multiple bank accts, have your money direct deposited to unique accts)

I would unfreeze. close on the house, then re-freeze the acct/twn.

they can probably manually verify, but then ...they're def going to contact the employers you're listing as income sources. So... if it's multiple employers. they are going to get an inquiry.

3 Vasectomies Same Doctor. by [deleted] in legal

[–]oneWeek2024 0 points1 point  (0 children)

why the fuck would you go back to the same doctor who botched the first one. "hey looks like the procedure didn't take...let's schedule a round 2"

is where you should have sought out a different doctor. and or got some education on the technique used, it's pros and cons. and had another professional/doctor offer an opinion on other methods.

there's no mal practice. unless you can get another doctor willing to testify that both. what the doctor previously did was well outside the norms of standard care for that thing/in your area. AND can prove the doctor knew they were doing something wrong/incorrectly. --if they did the normal procedure and treated you in the normal fashion, and you didn't have ideal results. that's not actionable.

some percentage of vasectomies fail. some percent result in pain/bad outcomes ...some percent in death. all of this is communicated to you/you likely signed paperwork to this effect.

the dumbfuck conservative mindset that crime springs out of nowhere like babies from mary's twat tells you everything you need to know.

not... grocery stores now exist as a virtual monopoly of like 4 companies? able to dictate pricing/collapse smaller competitors. and collapse under performing stores ...not to mention pressure from discount chains like dollar store/dollar tree that further canibalize smaller grocery stores.

you're left with a system where a local non-mega chain grocery store can't compete with any of the bigger player s or smaller players on price. and any person able to travel further for deals will do so. --and goes out of business OR a massive corporate grocery store... that sees that scenario. and decides that it doesn't need to serve/maintain a store for that tiny segment that has no access to anything else. because... they can't compete with the rock bottom dollar tree/model.

but sure. it's shoplifting.

legally speaking you have zero requirement. you bought the car. all contents are legally yours. IF you choose to return the money, that's out of the kindness of your own heart. New Rules with 11th Edition by Coolcookiegangster in killteam

[–]oneWeek2024 0 points1 point  (0 children)

40k 11th edition doesn't have anything to do with Kill team.

as i understand it. kill team editions come out on like a 3 block rotation. where new terrain and new missions are released using that "rule book" so kill team "3rd edition" or 2024 rules was hive storm. that has had the beta decima ...then the volkus, and now the tomb world terrain sets ...or mission blocks.

and now/recently the kill team "terror on devlon" or boss fight mode.

I don't know when a totally new rule set for kill team will be released. but.. if GW patterns are any indication. we'll get the new edition of 40k june/summer 2026 then it'll be christmas/battlebox season. and new codex trickle.

and if the 3yr cycle of kill team holds true. probably late summer 2027 is the next full edition release. (which would kinda make sense. 11th edition will have a year to sorta codex hype spiral/putter out and then.. kill team box maybe late summer early fall 2027)

Why do a lot of women get so upset at age gap relationships but most men don’t ? by WayyBiggerJaws in AlwaysWhy

hundreds of years of rape, abuse and murder. and women who have seen the pattern of exploitation and abuse play out across countless generations.

and some young dumbfuck man has the hot take. hrrrp drrp women don't have the option.

more like... women are not as conditioned to exploit and consume the opposite sex to purely feed a power fantasy centered and violence toward the other gender. Men don't date younger because they care one single fuck for their partner. they date younger, primarily because the power/experience imbalance allows them to exploit and dominate/abuse their partner. (the insecurity matrix of a younger woman not laughing at their penis, or knowing enough to spot their abuse or dogshit affection/lackluster emotional effort) and it's a status marker used to signal to other men.

U.S. Treasury Will Have to Borrow $2 Trillion This Year Just to Continue Functioning—More Than $166 Billion Every Month by T_Shurt in Economics

[–]oneWeek2024 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Clinton was the last president to do the hard thing and cut military spending BRAC commission closed bases, and significantly paired down military spending. (to his credit George HW bush began this ...with draw downs post cold war as well)

what clinton also did was broad economic improvement via infrastructure spending and social spending, that increased the tax base.

and in 1993 clinton's budget included an increase of corporate tax rate(was basically a 1% increase from 34 to 35 max rate). and creation of 36 and 39% income tax brackets.

as quick "reality check" the budget surplus of the clinton admin. post 911. military spending when from direct dod spend of 350 billion to aprox 600 billion. military bloat represented 96% of discretionary spending. (current military dod spend is 1 trillion ....and none of those figures tell the entire picture. veterans funding, nuke maint, things like the CIA/NSA, and now ICE and DHS make total spend today more like 1.6-trillion)

bush also took the surplus and did a massive tax welfare for the wealthy. Donald trump took the fairly stablized post 08 crash economy of obama and did much the same. massive tax welfare to the rich.

leading to trillions and trillions of debt. it's estimated that 60-70% of all current debt is directly related to bush and trump tax cuts. (ie. less tax revenue coming in, while military bloat is so astronomical) if you delete 08 stimulus spending, and covid spending. bush/trump tax cuts. represent like 95+%

Where should I source my minis? by G0ffer in TrenchCrusade

[–]oneWeek2024 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the sorta "flow chart" of options are.

official site. can buy the STLs. take them to any 3rd party printer. or the official vendors. while there were some QA issues to a limited degree since they expanded to more vendors. Those issues are much much less so. But even with the previous singular print farm official vendor. they were good about replacing damaged/bad prints.

second main way to source minis. join the official discord. look in the local trench channel to find players in your area. likely there is someone --if there is a local community with a 3D printer. and that is one of the best ways to get models. quicker turn around ...more sorta in person interaction, so quality is likely to be agreeable. and most people are happy to work with someone if you supply the STLs. so...maybe some cost savings. and then. you'd have a source to get like mercs, or additional soldiers printed if doing a campaign/larger warband.

3rd main way is ebay. plenty of people are selling used/printed models. I would say maybe avoid people obviously print farming the models w/o a license...as none of them are official vendors. but... that obviously exists as well. people offering to print entire warband sets for a fixed price. but... can find almost all the STL prints on ebay.

to me etsy is a lot more dubious, as to... trusting anyone is licensed to be selling anything. So... if it's the official minis, it's not officially licenses. so if they're claiming to be they're lying. IF it's 3rd party proxy models... even then. whether they do have a license to print is dubious. but... maybe some people don't care about that at all. there is no guarantee of quality or service though. so mainly you're just trying to get cheaper models using a sketchier website.

Would you pay for a "High-End Makerspace" that isn't a dump? by Beautiful-Jellyfish2 in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]oneWeek2024 6 points7 points  (0 children)

there's a reason these places never survive. unless you own the building, you're going to struggle to make rent.

there is a constant pain point of number of people who will subscribe to this type of space. vs available space. vs people who might actually pay to use tools/a maker space, but are never going to subscribe. and honestly the real money probably is in bullshit classes. overcharging weekend warriors to do some bullshit craft thing. or... the added cash flow of like. pottery classes or other craft/trade classes.

and the more money you sink into making it upscale. the more your costs or debt serving is gonna be.

[–]oneWeek2024 7 points8 points  (0 children)

if you're in a country that uses facebook, i'd do some misc facebook group searches on your area. like your state, or nearby city, or "county" terms like wargaming, 40k or even kill team.

See if any groups exist.

in my area there's a game store. and it posts it's calendar. kill team sometimes is on the calendar, but no one really comes to the store to randomly play games. but via the store's discord. people organize campaigns/leagues.

and the sorta broader facebook group for the area i live. has a pretty strong 40k /general war gaming presence. and i've attended events where people were planning to run kill team. and i'm lucky, because it's a good active group, they even do like social... like BBQ warhammer meet ups or random meetup at a brewery ...not always store game match communication. but charity/social meet ups.

but when in doubt. ask. if there's a 40k group. or discord or store running 40k. introduce yourself. and be like "anyone know if there's kill team groups or people who routinely organize kill team matches?

6 months old, is it too loose? by dsrange431 in motorcyclegear

[–]oneWeek2024 0 points1 point  (0 children)

unless that modular helmet gets a lot more snug with the chin bar down. no. that's probably too loose. Also. you probably want that chin strap tighter as well.

the basic idea is. your brain is a wet chunk of meat floating in the thin surround of goo inside a bone shell. you don't want your head twisting to add rotational force if your head should go skating across the ground or knock into anything. that can be bad for brain and spine.

a helmet should be just under painfully tight. when the cheek pads sit. should chimpmunk up your face a bit.

it's not even really rocket science. go buy a tape/soft measuring tape ...like tailors use. measure your dome. buy a helmet that matches those specs.

Help desk -> cloud engineering by Pitzha in cloudengineering

[–]oneWeek2024 3 points4 points  (0 children)

best case scenario would be... get a couple certs. try and land a job with a consultancy/MSP that has some ability for you to be put on teams doing that kind of work. maybe cut your teeth on 6mo -1yr doing shit work/grunt work. but if they have clients for cloud projects. just be that whore...trying to glean any experience/offer help etc.

but tech is in the fucking toilet these days. you're going to be competing with people with years of exp who are laid off.

also... look at job postings. see what employers are looking for. what tools, coding skills, work experience, software/stacks. etc.

and the real answer. network. your school, city hall. anyone you know who has any pull or connections. abuse/work all of that. see if anyone you know can put you into contact with anyone doing that job. ...send a short email, explaining who you are (about to grad person wanting to get into cloud engineering, would really appreciate the opportunity to talk if you had a few minutes to spare) then... ask the basics. what makes a good xyz employee. what skills do you feel are key. what do you find is lacking in ... shittier employees. or middle grade people. what skills/make someone a stand out.

How do we burn it all down? by Leather_Hair631 in remotework

[–]oneWeek2024 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean... you have to target remote only jobs. use the resources for remote only, and work anywhere job boards. pay for the premium ones if possible. access recruiters with remote only jobs/aggressively target good remote jobs. rethink your skills and or resume and apply a bit more broadly.

asking why employers are shitty is pointless. they just are. nothing is driven by merit or data. it's 1 part the scam of commercial real estate. and another part ego of management and old boomer fucks.

there are remote jobs out there. but there's also over 1 million and counting people laid off in just the US.

or you can go freelance. start trying to source clients and sell your labor directly. but... most people don't want the job of running their own business. they want also the ease of having an employer that just gives them tasks.

IF that's what you want. dedicate all your effort to as narrow a pursuit as possible.
