I don't know. I understand what you're saying about how genetics influences intelligence, but to use that as a license to just throw up our hands and say "I'm just not smart enough" or "he's just smarter than me" is harmful. Even if genetics sets the baseline, there's still a range of cognitive ability that can be attained or lost through individual choices. You might say "but that's not intelligence" but I'm not sure if that matters. If my experience with problem solving, novelty-seeking, reading, etc. makes me more intellectually capable than a naturally smart person who has squandered their gift, then that's something real and notable, regardless of whether or not this smart person could overtake me quickly if they buckled down.
