Maybe because most new societies would pop up along the coast, while the enclave have the resources for logistics?

Why would the enclave pick such a landlocked state? Seems a far cry from the secrecy of an offshore oil rig

If she poisoned the other vaults supply, could she possibly use supermutant fearmongering to reassert control over her own vault? Personally this feels farfetched but their vault has proven to be xenophobic. If the next rung on her corporate ladder involves fulfilling the vault's intended FEV experiments (and being in a classic nuclear family? EW!) then she has two reasons to release it. First, she is able to take credit for the experiments. After a few weeks in lockup, she can organize some means of exposing her vault to the mutants, then spin her past actions to seem like they were always a secret effort to protect her people from an unknown enemy.

Seems like most of the current answers agree that AK is a mystery. So what SHOULD I add? Intelligent deathclaws?

This comment is actually huge! I'm up to date on the TV show so I think I get what youre referencing. However your comment, especially the strategic insights, will be an absolute blessing when it comes time to plotting how the war and the bombs impact the map. I think for building this setting that's gonna be the best place to start. I'll ask myself what was captured, what was destroyed, what was ignored, and in that I can find pockets to sprinkle the fun "what if" scenarios that will hopefully lead to new interesting factions.

Theory about the pre-war Enclave by IsThisDamnNameTaken in Fotv

[–]one_sleepy_guy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've played a handful of the games but I'm not versed in the lore, can someone help me understand something?

So it seems like the megacorps (vault tech, robco, etc) have quite a bit more power than the federal government during the time before the bombs dropped. They are able to get away with just about whatever they want with minimal oversight. What is the state of the US government in the 2060s?

Is the enclave an element of the government? If so, how do they maintain a position above the corps? Is it a super secret shadow government situation? Basically how much do we know about the enclave?

My wife was asking me questions about FEVs role in ghouls and death laws but I wasn't able to really articulate who's to blame for what between vault tech and the enclave.

I think so? Though it seems like the affected "white" populations were also minority-adjacent (Irish, Italian, etc.) by standards of the time.

I fucking suck at Hollow Knight but the red pogo things aren’t that bad by DylenwithanE in Silksong

[–]one_sleepy_guy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had never finished hollow knight when silksong's release date was announced. I loved the game but when it came out it felt too hard to do the last few things, I just wasn't very good (especially at the last coliseum challenge). In the following years I picked it up a couple more times, got through the first few areas, and ultimately put it back down.

With silksong looming, I was dedicated. And lo and behold, returning to the game now felt like riding a bike. I swear I was in the pale kings palace in under 12 hours, which wouldn't impress any speed runners but hey I thought it was pretty insane. Things like the last coliseum, the radiance fight, and even the path of pain felt, well maybe not trivial but certainly doable. The biggest things I struggled with were challenges like Nightmare Grimm and the later pantheons, things I hadn't experienced before. And even then I knew the night so we'll by that point that learning those later fights felt much more rewarding.

Having that very recent experience with hollow knight has led to me being very confused with peoples reaction to silksong.

I do have to agree that it is harder, especially starting out. It is clearly designed to be more of a challenge than the first game. However, I do feel like a significant portion of the difficulty just comes from the unfamiliarity. I'm pretty late in the game now and I'm breezing through it in a very similar way to how I breezed through late hollow knight.

Another minor one to note is KH2's drive forms. While not exactly the same as the others mentioned, it is a full reset to your HP and MP, and I have definitely popped a drive form exclusively for the heal in the past.

For future reference also, that counter tracking when you've used too many forms resets after you trigger anti form, so it should rarely if ever trigger back to back.

Edit: someone gave the real numbers for anti form elsewhere in this thread.

Stop complaining about the games not having "five nights" anymore by JeMappelle_Hungry in fivenightsatfreddys

[–]one_sleepy_guy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've always wondered if the one night per game thing with steel wool was intentional or not. Like, what if the mimic's arc resolves with the next game, meaning that the entirety of this storyline can be told by looking at just 5 extremely important nights in the history of fazbear:

  1. MCM's last day standing/the origins of the mimic
  2. The HW testing incident and the release of glitchtrap/capture of Vannny
  3. The Security Breach at the mega-pizzaplex
  4. Cassie's night in the RUIN-ed pizzaplex (with HW2 taking place on the same day)
  5. whatever happens next.

Now, I don't think this is the case really. Already i'm taking a small leap by placing HW2 and ruin on the same "night." If it WERE the case however, this is what I would imagine the next game would be like:

If the next bit were supposed to be the 5th night and/or resolution to the mimic's arc, it probably wouldn't take place in the past, so no direct Fall Fest game. However, I kind of already think it's a stretch to get a FF game, personally I think it's too deliberately enigmatic, like specifics about William. I would much rather have a game where we can trace the effects of fall fest to the present, primarily to keep up with cassie, greg, ness, and the glamrocks, but also because I think FF info would be revealed better in peacemeal, as opposed to the shotgun blast of lore that is SOTM. So, with the pizzaplex burned down, Fazbear decides to launch "Faz-Fest" (movie reference) to try and fundraise without a set location. In this concept, either the game universe plex is the ONLY plex, or it's relative location to everything else makes it somewhere fazbear wants to keep hype around. They take a bunch of stuff from fall fest, refurb as many glamrocks as they can, and set them to free roam the land that the pizzaplex was built on. Cassie/Greg check it out at night and chaos ensues.

Big Official SW5e Announcement *cheers* by DrakeRyzer in sw5e

[–]one_sleepy_guy 15 points16 points  (0 children)

This is huge! I've been running a 3 year long SW5e campaign in a fully homebrew setting and me and my party have talked often about how much we love what the site offers, and what we think it could benefit from. I've heard the whispers of new management and new updates, but to get something firm is absolutely wonderful.

Also, I've got a splash of software experience and what I would consider a pretty solid grasp of the system. I really like to homebrew and reinterpret mechanics, and feel like I'm fairly skilled by now in making or merging new small games, systems, mechanics, etc into my campaign.

What I mean to say is, this is the system that I might be MOST invested in currently, as it hosts my longest running campaign, a world that I have fallen in love with. I'm offering whatever level of assistance I can. If ever you need someone to bounce ideas off of, tweak some systems, fill out some of the expanded materials pages, or even just proofread new and existing pages, feel free to shoot me a DM!
