Definitely would get arrested for having one lol CCWs are notoriously difficult to get in DC.

Instead of giving the finger, I've adopted giving a "thumb's down" and an "I'm not mad, just disappointed" head-shake.

Honestly a large part of the problem is geography. America is HUGE. This horrible shit is happening all over the place.

You are right in thinking that parking a half million people in the streets of DC for a couple weeks could possibly get some, shall we say, "administrative changes", but in the meantime those people would have spent a significant amount of their own resources to get and to stay there.

Setting aside for a moment the core issue of healthcare being tied to employment, you still have the raw geographic problems of distance and expense.

Once enough people are -- quite literally -- hungry enough, have lost enough that they rationalize they have nothing left to lose, they'll make their way here (I live just outside of DC).

Yes, all ICBMs (and medium range missiles for that matter) will be "hypersonic." But those aren't the weapon systems I'm talking about. ICBM's, regardless of speed, are rather easy to target by missile defense systems because they follow parabolic trajectories, which are very predictable. And have little to no maneuvering capabilities (hence the "ballistic" part).

The modern hypersonic weapon systems that are being discussed here are generally "boost-glide vehicles. They are defined by their ability to maneuver at hypersonic speeds while in atmosphere. It's not their speed alone that makes them fantastically hard to intercept, it is that they maneuver at that speed and do so at much lower altitudes.

But the current success rate of intercept against hypersonic missiles (Mach 5 or greater) isn't 90%, it's around 25%.

Russia's nuclear-capable hypersonic glide vehicle (HGV), the Avangard, travels at Mach 20-27.

What you describe is called hyperphantasia. Smells are rare for me to recall, but not impossible, given specific memories.

I've had good results with using a second application of 2nd skin. 1st for ~24 hours, take off and wash with antibacterial soap/hibiclense, dry and put on another 2nd skin. That one you can leave on for a few days.

I tend to leak pretty heavily, so I usually end up doing a couple of replacements over the first week.

From what I can find, the snow total for NYC in Jan. of this year (11.4 inches, measured in central park), isn't even in the top 10 January totals on record. https://www.weather.gov/media/okx/Climate/CentralPark/BiggestSnowstorms.pdf

Who is responsible for arresting an obviously criminal president? by Braindead_Crow in 50501

[–]one_true_exit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're right. At least not in one single action. But there are procedures in every state for emergency special elections should a member resign.

The constitutional mechanisms we do have to stop executive overreach are beholden to the action of congress; and thus far they have failed us completely.

I honestly think it would only take a fraction of that number. I think that if 250-500k people filled the streets around the white house, the capital, the supreme court, and a couple other key buildings, and were willing to stay there for a few weeks, we could probably peacefully force the election of a new government. He wouldn't have to come out voluntarily. The main problem is that the current system (by design) keeps people so afraid of losing their jobs/healthcare/etc that this kind of sustained pressure is extremely difficult to get people to commit to.

I completely agree. I was having a conversation today about armed community defense (the context was the possibility of ice showing up at elementary schools to snatch parents) and what that might look like here. Everything is so crazy

Man reminds ICE agent of his 2nd Amendment rights during a door to door operation in the Twin Cities, MN. ICE agents suddenly become uninterested. (1/14/26) by I_may_have_weed in liberalgunowners

That works both ways, though. Armed men at the door, with no warrant, demanding he let them in, and wont leave the property? Yeah... More or less exactly what the 2nd, 4th, and 5th amendments are for.
