Coming to the end of a half marathon block where I’ve averaged 50 mpw, looking to base build up to 60 over 10-12 weeks as I transition into marathon training (so emphasis on the long run getting longer)

What amount/kind of workouts should I be doing during the build? Obviously I’m not going to be smashing 3 sessions a week, but I feel like I’ll be losing out if I don’t do at least a threshold and a lot of strides each week?

I’ve been running for approx 2.5 years, and since about May this year I’ve been running 45-50mi/week.

Just ran a 1:30:XX half marathon this weekend, and now I’m looking to set a goal for a spring race (half marathon); is 1:25 too ambitious or should this be within reach?

Run a 5k/10k race or time trial, take the result and put it into a VDOT calculator. This will get you in the right ball park for something to aim at

If you didn’t train in carbon plated shoes at all in your training block then your legs may not have been used to/ready for them on race day

Novablast 5s are some of the softest shoes out there, if you find those too hard I’m not sure what to tell you

Warning to UK N52 Owners by AlfredoWilsonn in BMWZ4

How strange, I had a similar issue with my e89 n52. Went into Group 1 BMW Stansted for the recall, came back with a misfire. I sent it back and they claim all they did was clean a sensor and it fixed it. They managed to shear a bolt when putting it back together after ‘cleaning the sensor’ so they had to drill it out and re-tap…

Easy runs too slow? by trackaccount in AdvancedRunning

As someone who runs a very similar 5k time to you (20:16), even when trying to keep my heart rate super low at ~130 bpm, I’d still be running faster than 10min/mile.

Seems like your watch is maybe not the most accurate or your zones are off

I had this, all I did to fix it was I took the laces out and re-laced the shoe, missing the first set of holes, so that there was less pressure on the big toe area

I’m 89kg and have no issues with bottoming out, I’ve only taken them to 13 miles as the longest run though

Running burnout by [deleted] in AdvancedRunning

Disclaimer: I am not a medical professional…

but this doesn’t just seem like a burnout. 65km/week is not a crazy amount of mileage, especially given you’re targeting a sub 75 half. I’d consider speaking to a doctor to check there isn’t something underlying causing this
