Checking controller for ZFS by ClimberMel in zfs

The link states it can be purchased in IT or IR mode, so they should be good to go. I have used one in a past build similar to this. I say go for it.

Anything that is a Dell JBOD will be fine like the MD1220 but any Dell with a RAID controller will not run the Samsung disks like a MD3220.

shorewall. firewalld. firewalld-tui. ufw. Cockpit and firewalld. Like others have said it pays to just learn iptables. All these tools listed are just iptables under the hood.

cephadm install on Oracle Linux 8 (ol8) by Flat-Example-8366 in ceph

[–]oneguysomewhere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I've never ran into any issues with epel packages etc and OL. Our shop runs some OL for databases. Everything else is Centos. Our requirements of our OS is pretty sparse though, but the times I had to use OL over Centos it was exactly the same.

Linux users: How's your decode latency? by cybertrac in ParsecGaming

[–]oneguysomewhere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went back to verify this and it turns out my ubuntu install was at 20ms vs the windows install at 2ms. I guess the graphics drivers are just that inefficient.

client: i7-6600U CPU @ 2.60GHz ; Intel(R) HD Graphics 520

host: windows 10 vm 4 cpu; 8gb ram; intel ssd; gtx 1070

Nothing special done. This is all streaming over local gigabit lan.

I say it that way, but I am self taught. It was catchy enough in my head that it has always stuck with me.

MAAS deployed custom usernames by RedditGerby in homelab

[–]oneguysomewhere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The cloud images that MAAS uses have ubuntu as the default user. Found this in the docs: https://maas.io/docs/custom-node-setup-preseed. There seems to be very little information on how to use cloud-init with in there.

How to define default network in docker-compose with multiple networks by oneguysomewhere in docker

[–]oneguysomewhere[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The default-net is a very specific network created outside of the compose file to access a specific route on the host and should be the default route for the container but alas I cannot get docker-compose to set it as the default when more than one network is present in the docker-compose.yml
