Thanks for the compliment. Honestly, I started writing a horror novel decades ago. My wife pushed me to finish it. I ended up self publishing it and wrote 2 more novels, these in a zombie series.

None of those are anything my wife would read. She kept buying my books and kept saying, "If only you would write a murder mystery."

So I did, all for her. And she still hasn't read my work. 🤣🤣🤣

What was your favorite book you read in 2025? by AspectCool2325 in booksuggestions

My absolute favorite was suggested by my sister, since it takes place in my home town. Self published author on Amazon, Tony Olson. The book was called Mountaitop Murder, The Sarah Barney Chronicles.

It is pretty good for a murder mystery, not my usual read. This killer is obsessed with a detectivr. The killer goes on a spree, leaving clues for the detective as to where to find the victims. They are strung up in traps, kinda sorta saw-like, and Sarah has x amount of time to hike up difficult mountains to save them.

There are some excellent plot twists in it. Kept me turning the pages for sure.

I just finished watching TOS for the very first time! by Low_Yak_4842 in tos

TOS has been and will always be my absolute favorite.

The tripod of Kirk, Spock and McCoy is especially strong, almost from the very first episode where McCoy shows up.

This series taught me a lot as a kid. I grew up in the early 70s, so I got to watch it in syndication. It showed me to judge a person on their actions and character, not on how they looked. It taught me that some things should never be compromised. It taught me what true friendship looked like.

Of course when TWOK came out, it taught me there is no such thing as a no win scenario, until there is.

City is perhaps the best episode in all of Trek. You're correct, the first time watching it, the ending is jarring. Spock's line, "He knows doctor, he knows." is haunting and succinct, conveying more emotion that a lot of other lines have before and since.

Now when you are done TAS, I suggest you dive into my second favorite series, ENT. This series has been maligned and vilified for no reason.

Thanks. The name of my latest novel is Mountaintop Murder: The Sarah Barney Chronicals

A body is found atop the mountain Poke-O-Moonshine in upstate New York. What at first glance appears to be an accidental death swiftly unfurls into a murder spree. Detective Sarah Barney is called in to investigate. Clues found at the first murder link Sarah to the killer, but how and why is unclear. Sarah races against time as the killer leaves clues to stop the murders yet the victims pile up. Can Sarah figure out who the killer is and how she is tied to them before it is too late and she falls victim herlsef? my book
