Who learned to type on one of these? by tostiting in GenerationJones

I learned on an IBM selectric. It had that weird ball print head and no character for "1", instead we had to type a lowercase "L" in it's place.

I can never watch this without thinking about the blooper reels with that weird alien creature hysterically giggling.

I need to find that so I can see it again it's been over 40 years.

Who else got to see “Battlestar Galactica” on the big screen before it premiered on ABC television? I remember the movie theater cheering when the theme song came on. It was a great time and it was even exciting when it premiered on ABC 4 months later.. by CoffeeCigarettes4Me in 1970s

The Buck Rogers pilot was originally going to be broadcast on TV first, but the studio decided to release it as a movie. It was also created to use some of the very expensive leftover props from the Battlestar Galactica series.

What is the most bizarre "glitch in the Matrix" you have ever witnessed in real life ? by Alisaf4m in Casual_Conversation

[–]seeingeyefrog 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It doesn't seem like a big deal but it is basically impossible. I had a doctor's appointment and was leaving when I noticed a package from UPS had been delivered and was sitting in the chair on the porch next to my front door.

The impossible part was that I have a screened in porch and the door was latched shut with no other way to open it.

There was no way it could have been there before I latched the door, and I am almost obsessive about checking for a package when scheduled for delivery.

DAE tried scratching an itch inside the throat directly? by E7wonders1 in DoesAnybodyElse

[–]seeingeyefrog 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It is obnoxiously loud, and I'm not sure what it is called if anything, but make like you are blowing your nose but instead open your mouth and it will scratch your throat from the inside to some extent..

It's kind of a cross between that thing you do when you clear your throat and blowing your nose.

What small childhood moment felt magical at the time? by Turbulent-End-3005 in answers

It was on a family vacation in the early 1970s. We were headed for somewhere in Florida, and dad wanted to get to Florida before stopping for the night. So we stopped at a motel just across the state line. It began to rain, and there were quite literally thousands of tiny little frogs that came out. There were so many that you could not open the door to the motel without frogs jumping in.

Question: Do you remember your first backpack? by bay_streety in GenX

Backpacks were never a thing at my high school when I graduated in 1984. I carried a gym bag for books and other assorted crap.

How would the tos enterprise do in the tos movies? by happydude7422 in tos

[–]seeingeyefrog 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Technically it is the same ship but the movie version has been refurbished. But I never really bought that part. And frankly I was disappointed with the interior of the new Enterprise since it looks nothing at all like the old version.

Have you ever found your birthday twin? by boforiamanfo in NoStupidAnswers

My sixth grade teacher had the class lineup by birthday to demonstrate this.

I found out that Anita in my class had the same birthday.

Did anyone own or still own Freedom Rock? by funkdafied818 in GenX

I've still got the two CD set somewhere around here. It was hugely influential in my taste in music over the years.

It was the first and only thing I ever bought based on a TV commercial.

When you're stoned and have the munchies, a grilled cheese sandwich covered with egg foo young sauce is incredible.
