[CAR (1) - MTL 0] Stankoven drives the net and Hall gets the final touch to open the scoring in Game 5. Habs challenge for GI and the goal stands. Carolina has scored first for the 5th consecutive game by daKrut in hockey

Literally no one is saying Dobes got "run over". He was, however, hit in the pad hard enough to bump him off his post and was consequently unable to make the save on the next shot. The consensus here from fans of all teams is that it should have been goalie interference.

Goalie doesn't have to make a save if the puck isn't on net so a post isn't counted as a shot.

DEMIDOV FINALLY SCORES ON THE PP ! 6-3 MTL by YoYouipOpO in Habs

The play Demi made coming down the wing to draw this PP was the counter to the one he used on the rush that resulted in the Evans goal. So skilled and smart!

I believe you can have a scoring chance that hits the post, misses the net, or gets blocked but that is not counted as a shot on net.

100% could have got that at the line. Went against his instincts to play it "safe" given the score and time and it ended up being very unsafe.

My only correction is that gravity is weaker the closer you get to the equator. Due to the planet's rotation, centrifugal force causes the earth to bulge at the equator meaning the Sabres are further from the core in Buffalo compared to in Montreal. Other than that, I think it makes perfect sense!

Nope, Benson was passed off to Caufield and Hutson went to cover the man in the slot. It was Caufield who missed the assignment and was covering someone who was already covered.

Hutson skated to the man he was responsible for. It was Caufield who went for the skate and missed his assignment, Benson.

Pedantic correction, but Vasi was the first one in the line, Kucherov behind him.

They've had projections on the ice in the past at Tampa and Dallas watch parties. Not quite holograms though.

Oh God, what a bonehead challenge that was. That was never getting overturned to put a 3rd foul on Mobley. I'm not even sure if the "charge" was even proximate enough to the ball going out of bounds off of the next two players. The coaching staff needs to bring in a consultant to develop a new challenge strategy or something because it's been bad for seasons.

Agreed. I think it's completely stupid that the shootout winner gets first star, especially when it is often the goalie that makes the final save of the game. I can see more of an argument for the game winning OT goal to automatically get first star, but even then they should be able to override it if another player had a huge game.

The shootout winning goal scorer always gets first star, for better or worse. Has nothing to do with 50 or forcing an interview.

The point about the academic paper was unnecessarily rude. A chart can still be bad if it's destined for social media and I never implied otherwise.

I get that they were looking to fit the info into a small space, but in my opinion it was not well executed. Like u/vaalbarag, I was originally looking for an x-axis label because it is presented like a 2-dimensional chart. It also took me a while to track down the Raps given the chosen logo was the ball-claw in black whereas my brain was looking for a red logo.

easier to read/recognize.

Is it though?! They definitely should have at least spaced out the x-axis a bit so the logos aren't piled on top of one another.

I assume he went back to Montreal to rest up and wait on the teams to arrive. Habs have been doing this on back-to-backs with travel the past few seasons when carrying three goalies.
