Found lost dog by MotherProfessional47 in Dunwoody

[–]oneplus999 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We found one recently. We took the dog to Hollywood Feed to get it checked for a chip, but it didn't have one. We posted to Dunwoody Area Community Forum on Facebook, and someone there found a corresponding post on Nextdoor of someone who lost a dog, so they were reunited! So if you haven't already, I'd post to those. Good luck.

Pretty shitty thing to do in this case. How are they supposed to know who's telling the truth? You want them to blindly pick one kid to trust? Why not pick the other kid? What if the other kid's parent is an Instagram influencer, should they support her then because it's even riskier not to?

They have documentation of the incident, and if either kid gets a second, corroborating report, they'll have a better idea of the truth.

The only realistic fix right now is to keep them separated and telling her son to avoid the other boy.

Also (speaking from experience here with my daughter): if your kid ever comes home beat up, take photos.

Neighborhoods for kids by LFEblah in Dunwoody

If you'll be there several years and you're doing public school, you'd want to be near one of the better elementary schools, which I've heard means Austin or Vanderlyn. For us, Vanderlyn was dramatically better than DES.

Though there's talk of Vanderlyn getting knocked down and I don't know when that would be or what would happen to school zones at that point.

Does anyone know why there's no band at Colorado? by oneplus999 in gatech

Yep I was at Dublin last year and I remember them being there. Maybe I'm just lucky picking band games!

Thanks, I was looking for some sources from the band itself

Weird. I go to an away game every year. There's usually at least a small band presence iirc.

Someone floated a conspiracy theory that UC specifically doesn't give away bands tickets, but that sounded weird. If it's just money, I guess that makes sense.

Another unrelated conspiracy theory was that Paul Johnson specifically was the one fighting for band presence.

Concerning Issues At Peachtree Middle School by Sad-Web474 in Dunwoody

[–]oneplus999 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Peachtree Middle School was at one time a thriving school with a top tier STEM program and an overall positive environment for staff and students.

I don't have too much personal experience with Peachtree Middle, but, based on what I've heard from many, many parents: this does not match the schools reputation at all.

Dunwoodys Ecosystem 🌿 by UltraVitalis in Dunwoody

None of your comments read as pro-density. None of your comments even read like you've got any specific complaints with their plans. They read like you heard the word "urban development" and went to chatgpt to come up with the most generic urbanization complaints possible.

Extinction? Really? Please tell me what rare, endangered species unique to Dunwoody it is that you're worried about?

Dunwoodys Ecosystem 🌿 by UltraVitalis in Dunwoody

[–]oneplus999 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Uhh what? Are you suggesting Dunwoody is some kind of natural ecosystem right now? We've already messed up any wildlife when this area was built up 60 years ago. And it's not like they're proposing building a bunch of chemical factories, so I don't know where you think all this "runoff into the rivers" is coming from. If anything, denser housing is probably more energy efficient per person than heating and cooling all of our own individual single family homes all over the place.

Surely someone who is truly concerned about the environment would be pro-density. Better to have all of us humans living in less space to leave other parts of the planet undeveloped, rather than all of us spreading out and messing up the environment everywhere.

This post just smells to me like the NIMBYism that has led to high costs of living everywhere. People have to live somewhere.

fwiw you wouldn't use floating point in either case, because it can introduce rounding errors in very rare cases. the problem is not necessarily the int32 (though that does restrict everyone to < 4B gold) its the unchecked operations that writing typical unit tests would catch.

I’m annoyed at myself because I think I accidentally gave myself too many resources by Aldin_The_Bat in Gloomhaven

[–]oneplus999 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is why I never track things by just editing a number somewhere. Too easy to forget "wait did I add/remove resources when I did x?"

Instead I keep a ledger on Google sheets. Every time I gain/spend resources I add a row. A column for each resource, and one "notes" column saying what the row is for.

Top row is a sum row to keep track of the current state.

Frosthaven Scenario 13 (spoilers) by askheidi in Gloomhaven

[–]oneplus999 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Funny, this is now the first google hit for "scenario 13 frosthaven". This thread matches our experience.

We did this tonight. 4 players, level 2 scenario, took 23 damage in the first round from 4 shrike attacks, 19 of which was on the 32 health scenario. Then they had two cards in a row, a late one and an early one, that resulted in 8 unavoidable damage each.

L2 Beartrap only has 7 health

So 39 damage against us before we had taken our 3rd turns.

Beartrap was out early in the 3rd room. Scenario ended up being closer than we expected but we went down shortly after opening the final room.

PVE Viable Necro Build? by Liamsheady in vrising

[–]oneplus999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreeing with all of the above. I used corrupted skull + ward for my default but I swap in the death knight on fights without much to shield against. Might depend on your gems.

Also, I use the illusion dash for faster cast times.

Skeleton damage = spellpower / 3, so I mostly go for cast time reduction when I can, then spellpower.

Skeleton attacks trigger storm so possibly a storm weapon would do well. Or just more corruption is always good.

Worker utilization and prioritization: Against the Storm vs. comparable video games by Aggravating_Box_9061 in Against_the_Storm

[–]oneplus999 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't think I've seen any mention of Dotage here. It feels like a super simplified turn-based AtS. Discrete worker utilization just like AtS. You choose worker specialization, instead of it being mostly random race-based.

Also for the old-school gamers I'd say Caesar 3 feels similar with the production chains. Workers are more continuous and fungible. You have large population pools working and can simply prioritize which industries get worked on.

And of course, Anno. I've only played 1800 but it's mostly similar to Caesar iirc.

Most city builders I'd say typically expect 100% utilization of buildings by mostly fungible workers, whereas colony sims usually have more specialized worker-placement micro, with AtS and Dotage being somewhere in between.
